We have witnessed the warm relationship between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the four years Trump was in the White House as Trump worked essentially as an asset of the Kremlin. We have seen in the past few weeks the return of Alexei Navalny, the main opposition leader to Putin, who was poisoned by the Kremlin last Fall, rushed to Germany for treatment, and returned to Russia last month, only to be arrested again. This action sparked major protests across Russia. Who is Putin? We blame him for many things but the deeper reality is that he has been largely shaped by Russia’s reaction to NATO expansion and US policies.
To help us understand him and the prospect for better Russian - Western relations, Cynthia Lazaroff and Jim Hickman will dialogue with Vladimir Posner, a veteran journalist widely respected for his insight and fairness both in Russia where he is one of the most popular TV journalists, and in the West where he has lived and traveled for many decades.
