There are many instruments of nonviolence being used to successful outcomes around the world.

Among the institutions referred to during our discussion of  “our bridge to the future” is restorative justice.  Another is called Unarmed Civilian Peacekeeping/Accompaniment (UCP/A), a rapidly growing and learning field where persons trained in nonviolence (not necessarily volunteers: they’re sometimes paid!) come to conflict areas, normally by invitation, to provide third-party services.  UCP/A has an inspiring track record, which we will describe.

Está especializado en Educación y Cultura de Paz (epistemología y construcción del conocimiento), resistencia civil noviolenta y movimientos sociales, materias que imparte en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM; coordina en la UNAM un Programa de Formación e Investigación de Cultura de Paz y Noviolencia desde 2017. Activista social co-fundador del Servicio Paz y Justicia y del Movimiento y por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad, facilitador en muchos cursos y talleres. Cuenta con muchas publicaciones en libros y revistas, entre otras autor de “Gandhi y la Desobediencia Civil. México hoy”. Ha recibido premios de educación para la paz.
  • Tom Hastings is Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution at Portland State University and Coördinator of the BA/BS degree and certificate programs. He is Director of PeaceVoice, a co-founder of the Portland Peace Team, author of several books focusing on nonviolence and more than 500 other publications, board member of the International Peace Research Association Foundation, on the Academic Advisory Council of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, founding faculty with the James Lawson Institute, a former Catholic Worker, and a two-time Plowshares resistor.
