Humanity is more than it has become and the “Old Story” has not served us and our evolution.

How the concept of the human being and of “nature red in tooth and claw,” attributed to an oversimplified Darwin, has long demoralized us and retarded human progress.  Even if “survival of the fittest” (meaning the most violent) were the driving force of evolution, it does not have to be ours. We are more than this Old Story would suggest.

  • Michael Nagler is Professor of Classics and Comparative Literature, emeritus, at the University of California, Berkeley and teaches in the Peace and Conflict Studies Program he founded on that campus in the 1970’s. In addition to teaching at Berkeley he frequently speaks for media and the general public on issues of peace and nonviolence and does presentations around the world for the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation. Michael has written six books and contributes articles frequently to Tikkun, YES! magazine and many other progressive journals. He has consulted for the U.S. Institute of Peace and many organizations and projects dealing with nonviolence and world peace. Michael is the Founder/President of The Metta Center and Director of “The Third Harmony”.
  • Tom Eddington is an author, Executive Coach and Business Advisor, and Executive Producer of “The Third Harmony”. He holds an M.S. in Organization Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. As a scholar of nonviolence and Conscious Leadership, he is passionate about bringing this work into the world which he does through his coaching and advisory work, film and media projects and Board positions. He is the Managing Director of Eddington Advisory Services.
  • Anna Ikeda works for Soka Gakkai International 's Office for UN Affairs, where her work focuses on disarmament. She is a campaigner for the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and Stop Killer Robots. Anna serves on the board of directors of the Metta Center for Nonviolence.
  • Sherri Mitchell -Weh’na Ha’mu Kwasset, is an Indigenous attorney, activist, and teacher from the Penobscot Nation. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Roger’s College of Law, specializing in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy. She is an alumna of the American Indian Ambassador Program and the Udall Native American Congressional Internship Program. Sherri is the author of the award-winning book, Sacred Instructions; Indigenous Wisdom for Living Spirit-Based Change. And she is a contributor to eleven anthologies, including the best seller, All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis, and Resetting Our Future: Empowering Climate Action in the United States. Sherri is the founding Director of the Land Peace Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of Indigenous rights and the protection of the Indigenous way of life.
