In this time of collective anguish, we turn to the healing power of ritual and the arts.
Convener:
- Kayleen Asbo is a core faculty member for Ubiquity University's Wisdom School and creative director of Mythica, currently teaching a course on The Arts of Grief: The Alchemical Power of Creativity to Transform Suffering.
Presenters:
- Psychotherapist Francis Weller, founder of Wisdom Bridge and author of The Wild Edge of Sorrow will speak on the different individual and collective "gates of grief". Wisdom Bridge conducts community grief rituals that draw on traditions of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso, woven together with music, nature, altar building, dance, poetry and writing practices.
- Poets Larry Robinson and Doug Von Koss will offer poetry of grief. Founders of Rumi's Caravan, each has memorized over 200 poems which they draw on in performance with a collective of arts activists who use poetry as a vehicle of social awakening and responsibility. and environmental stewardship
- Kate Munger, founder of the Threshold Choir, a musical organization with over 150 global chapters dedicated to singing to the ill and dying, and the development of creativity amongst its members.
