Chat from AfterChat Zoom from HR Day 407:

aka ChatPeople Chat

...

00:02:06    Stanley Pokras:    This is the AfterChat for Day 407

00:04:48    Stanley Pokras:    We publish links to the Humanity Rising recording, the Chat and this recording and chat each day. Send your email address to receive these links daily.

00:06:39    Stanley Pokras:    Here is our list of Humanity Rising programs… ::https://othernetworks.org/List_of_Humanity_Rising_Day_Pages::

00:06:51    Patricia Aguirre:    hello from Brasil. I wasn't able to join early.. only the last minutes. Very important in this moment even if so little time. In middle of hands on work in land...so I will be quiet...and follow recording later.

00:08:42    Shannon McArthur:    Hello Patricia, lovely to have you lurking!! ;)

00:09:12    Stanley Pokras:    TED Talk: Why I live a zero waste life: ::https://othernetworks.org/TED_Talk:_Why_I_live_a_zero_waste_life::

00:11:29    Kevin He/him Canada:    How do we shift narratives to include abstract inequality as being woven into the climate crisis?

00:12:47    Robert Hayes:    did anyone catch the name of this artist org?

00:13:29    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    ::https://endangered.global:: I think.

00:13:34    Shannon McArthur:    Shannon! You came!

00:13:50    Tom Eddington:    ENDANGERED.global

00:13:51    Shannon Crossbear:    I did!

00:15:24    Tom Eddington:    Yes, it is impossible to separate inequality and climate change.

00:15:29    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Shannon Crossbar - so nice to see you!!!

00:15:52    Norma Pezzini:    sorry, I have to leave.

00:16:28    Shannon Crossbear:    Thank you. my internet is in and out here the last little while..

00:16:59    Kevin He/him Canada:    TOM, which then includes discussion about colonial mindedness

00:17:44    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Tom - do you know what companies are engaged in destroying the rain forest?

00:18:21    Tom Eddington:    Kevin, yes the colonial mindset has to be acknowledge. A truth and reconciliation process is essential.

00:19:34    Tom Eddington:    Kathryn, there are so many companies engaging in destroying the rain forest in South America but also in Africa and Asia. These span the equipment manufacturers, food processors, energy, textiles, etc.

00:19:44    Kevin He/him Canada:    David, Can you speak about the Extinction Rebellion actions in the UK

00:20:23    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Tom, is it possible to do a campaign directed at them - public disgrace…?

00:21:37    Tom Eddington:    Kathryn, one of the ways to stop the destruction of the rain forest and nature in general is to cut off the money supply to the companies. If the banks don’t lend the companies money then they can’t do the destruction. Bank of America is the leading financial institution contributing to biodiversity loss.

00:21:53    Stanley Pokras:    The Amazon…

Two programs on the need to help the Amazon:

Day 389 Wed 1/12/22 Amazonia on the Brink: A Dialogue with Antonio Nobre

https://othernetworks.org/HR!Day389::

Day 394 Wed 1/19/22 A Marshall Plan To Cool The Planet Through Forest Regeneration

https://othernetworks.org/HR!Day394::

00:22:15    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Ah, thank you - that’s a help, Tom.

00:23:15    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    There is a movement address the baks and financial institutions and getting them to stop.

00:25:17    Stanley Pokras:    Here is the articles on OtherNetowks that reference the Amazon: ::https://othernetworks.org/index.php?title=Special:Search&limit=20&offset=20&ns0=1&search=Amazon::

00:29:10    Jack’s iPad:    Good by, blessings

Jljustlove

00:29:18    Shannon McArthur:    Bye Jack!

00:29:27    Shannon McArthur:    Love you!

00:29:57    Tom Eddington:    Thank you all for the conversation and opportunity to participate. I have to leave now for my next commitment. Tom

00:30:09    kathryn davison:    Tom Eddington thank you for highlighting institutions funding Amazon biodiversity loss. The more I listen, the more I think we need to form a new kind of bank with a new founding purpose so that we are financing the world regenerated that benefits people and planet.

00:30:13    Shannon McArthur:    Thank you, Tom, it’s been great to have you with ys

00:30:16    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Thanks Tom!

00:33:50    David Storey  Hampsjre UK:    This is for all but reply on Extinction Rebellion for Kevin.  Quickly, I think ER shot themselves on the foot by using techniques to draw attention to themselves but upsetting people's attempts to get to work on time.  The UK government is using their antics to try to get legislation through to make marches and other reasonable ways of drawing people's attention to the public and political powers.  David

00:35:16    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    Right David! It was a perfect excuse! We do NOT want to be inconvenienced during this crisis!

00:39:53    Kathryn Alexander, MA:    So nice to see everyone. I need to go. blessings!

00:45:18    Shannon Crossbear:    Why don't we place value on living things? Earth dollar.

00:47:00    David Storey  Hampsjre UK:    We may be white but three granddaughter have another grandfather who is pure Ghanain.  They are all involved in Black lives matter and other political issues.

00:47:59    Stanley Pokras:    What is the “Earth Dollar?”

00:49:45    kathryn davison:    That’s is supposed to say, “Backatcha!”

00:50:01    Stanley Pokras:    Eli’s program is based on collaborative natural resources.

00:50:36    Stanley Pokras:    And the Seeds project is also looking to natural resources as the essence of the economy.

00:51:23    Stanley Pokras:    Eli’s program is ::https://othernetworks.org/Universal_Foundation_for_Holistic_Design_(UFHD)::

00:52:10    Stanley Pokras:    And the Seeds project can be found here: ::https://othernetworks.org/Seeds_Library::

00:55:52    Robert Hayes:    Would several Sovereign Wealth funds, like from Ireland, Norway and say, the Texas Schoolteacher Union retirement fund do some participation in this ?  Wasn't Polly Higgins of the Ecocide movement working on this before her untimely demise?

01:00:29    kathryn davison:    Robert, I think you are really onto something.

01:00:56    kathryn davison:    Really, there’s plenty of money. We just need everybody to take on a piece, and commit, right?

01:01:51    Robert Hayes:    There's been a state banking movement going on for years, inspired by the success of the North Dakota state Bank.

01:02:17    kathryn davison:    Robert I’d love to hear more about the ND example, do you have a link or article to share?

01:04:04    Shannon Crossbear:    It is all related....  We are all related... it is not just a bumper sticker! Idle No More.

01:04:45    Robert Hayes:    California,  Michigan, NJ have been pulling together their own organizations.   The ability of California,  for instance, to create debt from all the huge public property is immense.  Bridges, water reservoir systems, bridges, highways,  etc. All were created by public expenditure and common wealth.

01:07:14    kathryn davison:    Kevin your voice and your heart are a gift.

01:08:02    Kevin He/him Canada:    Thank you Kathryn

01:08:48    Robert Hayes:    Kathryn, there has been suggestions to issue currency on a ship filled with copper ore, for instance.  There's plenty of unique opportunity to connect wealth as it exists now - to the ultimate work of making an intact Ecosystem.   There's really nothing more valuable.   All wealth is derived from. a functioning and healthy ecosystem,  after all.

01:10:01    Robert Hayes:    ha ha, before automobiles 😅

01:15:45    Robert Hayes:    " ... The Bank of North Dakota makes loans to businesses and to other banks, and has come to be seen both in and out of the state as a beacon of economic stability and financial independence. Then there's the revenue: The bank has turned over $350 million in profits to North Dakota's general fund since 1997. ... "
