Jim, as much of the history of this day is soaked in horrible and devastating actions from the past, I think it is also important to honor that in our time it has become a time for people to slow down their lives, take a day off, feast, and come together with one another. I have always said that Thanksgiving was more a holiday for the men than it was for the women (or the cooks of whichever gender), but nonetheless, it does represent a break from our normal headlong rush into accomplishment. And at this point in our world, any such break is to be honored. It is a potential opening for feeding and being with each other.
