   Ilarion (Kuyuux) was talking about what was known — and what we moderns used to know — as participatory consciousness or participation mystique.  For us to achieve its healing presence demands letting go of our left hemisphere/ego consciousness, to reach a place of “complete simplicity” as TS Elliot said.  That is hard because it requires letting go of all our preconceived notions that were arrived at via our modern, separated ego-dominated consciousness, i.e. it costs “not less than everything.”  Here’s a challenge, a kind of koan, that might shake-up ego-dominated thinking:  “The world is absolutely perfect, including your own dissatisfaction with it, and everything you are trying to do to change it.”
