I don't agree with American politics but I as a native Austrian have experienced Hungarians flee their countries after Soviet tanks moved in to suppress the peaceful revolution. The same with Czechoslovakia. People fled to neighbouring countries, Austria in this case, because the Soviet Union moved in to suppress the people's movement to more independence and democrcy.
