= Videos Chats & Resources of HR Day 188 = | The term empath is commonly used to describe individuals who experience heightened empathy in day-to-day life. Often, such heightened empathy is experienced as a personal strength that comes with its own unique set of stressors and challenges. On one hand, being an empath can promote greater social connection, awareness, and potential for benefit. Alternatively, depending on one’s context and other factors, being an empath can also be experienced as a barrier to personal and social well-being, with downsides such as emotional overwhelm, fatigue, and burnout. In this presentation, we will explore what it means to be an empath through the lens of compassion science and training, including various ways compassion can be used to consciously transform empathy, particularly when empathy’s downsides are present. As we will see, lessons about empathy from compassion science and training point to the greater potential empaths may have for cultivating and sharing an abundance of energy and compassion. | ||

The term empath is commonly used to describe individuals who experience heightened empathy in day-to-day life.
