Text of the Zoom Chat from Humanity Rising Day 188

...

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:01 AM)

Happy Friday Everyone!

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:04 AM)

Good morning for Day 188 !!! The day of empathy.

Esbjörnsdotter Barbro to Panelists and Attendees (11:05 AM)

What is that music, please?

Humanity Rising to Panelists and Attendees (11:06 AM)

Music is ‘IIono” by Catherine Braslavsky

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:06 AM)

Blessed good morning from sunny Kamloops BC, please include Attendees in this Chat Box so we can chat together. Let’s activate and light a fire of love we can gather around through the intention we share…

Beautiful music indeed

Esbjörnsdotter Barbro to Panelists and Attendees (11:07 AM)

Thanks for title!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:12 AM)

please talk about what emotional contagion is, Jordan

Jane Norton to Panelists and Attendees (11:12 AM)

I was told by a Chiropractor who uses genetic testing that there is an empath gene. You can inherit one, teo or none from your parents. He said just because someone has the gene does not mean they express it.  Curious if Jordan has looked into this.

Dehanna Rice to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

Right, epigenetics whether the gene gets expressed or not 🧬

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

time to do a new study, imho!!

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:16 AM)

Professor Quaglia appeared on Humanity Rising on Day 93. Here's a link to the OtherNetworks.org page for that day:

https://othernetworks.org/HR!Day093::

Dehanna Rice to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

Maybe the “Information Age” is dulling the empathy?

Jane Norton to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

In the U.S. Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980. that could have contributed to the decline or reflected it!

Dehanna Rice to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

Or, also people are turning to Nature & our expression of it

Inter-Connectedness ❤️

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (11:24 AM)

Empathy means that you feel what a person is feeling.

Sympathy means you can understand what the person is feeling.

Compassion is the willingness to relieve the suffering of another.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)

relevant to the work of Thomas Hübl. social witnessing (pathway to empathy and compassion) opportunities is limited during stay-at-home times. we must get creative and in touch with our telepathic and other superhuman powers to maintain empathy

David Stoney to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)

Experience sharing was a strong component of consciousness in our early human ancestors.  In anthropological/psychoanalytic literature it is referred to as “participation mystique.”  The high anxiety levels of this extraordinary, liminal era in which we live enhances left hemispheric processing and “othering,” i.e., objectification.

jill to Panelists and Attendees (11:29 AM)

see book ‘empathy instinct’ by Peter bazalgette and book by roman krznaric

Dehanna Rice to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)

Isn’t it a matter of “space” staying expanded in our Heart Fields & not letting the environmental stresses narrow our focus?

David Stoney to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

Heart vs. head consciousness

Dehanna Rice to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

Our experience sharing aspect IS our natural state of Heart Intelligence

KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)

Does wish here include prayer? I offer the His Holiness Dalai Lama’s Meta Meditation (Loving Kindness meditation) as an act of compassion. Personal opinion, I believe prayer - seeing it feeling it resolved, that version of prayer - is more evolved than wishing.

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)

Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D., is the Dalai Lama’s principal English translator and author of the course Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT). Jinpa posits that compassion is a four-step process:

Yes cats, definitely!

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (11:40 AM)

oops typo...double copy

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (11:46 AM)

Thubten Jinpa PhD 4 steps -1" Awareness of suffering."

2 "Sympathetic concern related to being emotionally moved by suffering."

3 "Wish to see the relief of that suffering."

4" Responsiveness or readiness to help relieve that suffering"

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:46 AM)

May I flow past this rock in my River of Time…

gently and surely…

KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

understand the context of wish here now

Richard Buckley to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

The national decline in empathy is due to neoliberalism

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (11:54 AM)

YEs - no eye contact

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

Interconnectedness and cocreativity as facets of empathy.

Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:55 AM)

Candy, you've brought in something important by mentioning neoliberalism. Yup!

jill to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

from Jill houchin: bazalgette addresses the decline - see his book

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

Yes no separation.....We are One.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

Our past year’s experience has presented an opportunity to connect to the unseen (including others) and develop our connectedness through our intuitive and superhuman capacities.

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

Civic engagement requires time which the modeln workplace doesn’t allow

modern

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:58 AM)

whether increase in neoliberalism causes decrease in empathy ? let’s discuss in the AfterChat…

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

Reminded of ALL LOVE channeling regarding message of COVID: “When empathy is achieved, I am complete.”

KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

Do we also think it’s too much news - the internet as mentioned but not bc of behind the screen but because it can be overwhelming. I have friends on line who seem very overwhelmed by climate change etc and I wonder if it is pushing them not just into the fatigue but can it push out of empathy. I’ve heard people want to ignore it because it’s too much.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)

we are ‘war-torn’ in the sea of pain we are washed in. too  much will cause empathy fatigue

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:02 PM)

Jim, mentioning Toynbee and citizen engagement brings me to mentioning the mystery created by the "Toynbee Tiles." This phenomenon had an odd relationship to my home town, Philadelphia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toynbee_tiles::

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

We have capacity to listen and care without entering the energy space of others. If “too much” we have entered the energy of others perhaps and left our center.

jill to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)

see Paul Gilbert’s books and foundation re compassion. from Jill houchin

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

neuroplasticity

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

Ponder if collective, generational, and current societal trauma suppresses our capacity. Building ourselves back through self-healing also heals others. Not possible to heal one without healing reaching the All.

Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

As an African American, I have to wonder about the role of empathy & compassion during slavery & beyond, and the role & ebb & flow of compassion fatigue through the centuries as it relates to race relations.

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Wondering if our shrinking attention spans are also an issue re cultivating empathy and compassion

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

I hear you, Cuf.

Leo Jacoby to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

I have a friend who is a strong empath who developed a rare skin disease where she sheds every skin cell. She believes she just took in too much negativity with news of Trump she had to stop watching news. It is in remission but she connected with people from all over the world who have this disease.  ….Janet Jacoby

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

I am excited about integrating my theory and Jordan’s more scientific approach. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

Diana Osberg to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

Storytelling.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)

Janet, that is a very interesting theory regarding the skin, considering its physical function of outer protection and filtration for the body.

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (12:11 PM)

This last year, I am sure will decrease the empathy line even further, specifically with people being so isolated, i.e. no church, party, family gatherings, etc.

Tammy to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)

The capacity to radiate with the earth

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:13 PM)

Humanity Rising Day 96 - "Dialogue with Brenda Dune" was about how people can sense or affect things.

Jean Stevens to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Watching Humanity Rising broadens my empathy with this interconnectedness in the seeking for a better world.

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Interdependence has been discouraged/disincentived in our future for a generation

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

As we reorganize and cocreate the future, we can choose to fuel it with empathy.

Candy Leonard to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

  • in our culture

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

As we reorganize and cocreate the future, we can choose to fuel it with empathy. As we evolve past the ego period into a oneness culture of peace and prosperity. It’s a choice.

David Stoney to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

The skin and the nervous system are closely linked.  Embryologically he bran develops from the neuroectoderm.  Sensory neurons that end in the skin secrete neurotransmitters and peptides into the skin.

brain

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (12:16 PM)

Yes, David, that is why screens will never replace actual human contact.

MALINI Rajendran to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)

I’ve started communing with trees. It’s helping

Jane to Panelists and Attendees (12:19 PM)

Masks draws in empathy especially when you see little children with their masks on.
