Dr. Kathleen Riley convenes this session, presenting the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA), a successful inclusive futurist model for the education of the whole human. IDSVA brings together scholars and artists who believe that the split that has divided the artists from the philosophers no longer serves the future of humankind. We need a new way of thinking that crosses boundaries between art and philosophy. We will hear in this session from three doctoral students who epitomize the fundamental elements of philosophical thinking and poetic thinking that lie at the core of IDSVA.
Thefaculty and students are all artist-philosophers who consider IDSVA to be the optimal, open-thought space for the diagnoses and creation of healing ideas.
