Regarding Jim’s reference to the devastation of WWI, I’d add that the global flu pandemic of 1918 also was a consequence. An estimated 50 million people died. The flu virus began in a US military camp in Kansas, and was cultivated to become more virulent in the trench conditions of the front, then spread by troops returning home.

We, in the developed world, are all paradoxes to various degrees. even as being climate aware, we are less than perfect with the damage we do to Earth for our comforts and conveniences. In self-reflection, make your suffering more conscious and intense to deepen your connection within/each other/Earth/life. Have your feelings-all of them! Do not succumb to being bullied by the self-judgement of being a "good" Earth steward. Are you not in breathing sacred? Whose standards are you beating yourself up with? Order/reorganize your world with each breath, free of oppressing a (devilish inner dictator?)

Not objectifying others from self. (Socrates said, "Know Thyself." No template, model lives of another decent human.) Only you, know your oppressor within. In my humble view, the remnants of a “colonial mind-set” about human development continues to plague the human species. During what we call the colonial period, there was no concept of childhood per se. Children were viewed as “miniature adults” and treated as such. Even though we have now come to better understand the stages of human development, the remnants of the “colonial mind-set” has lingered “unconsciously” to subtly influence how we as a human species frame ideas about power and power over.

Use graduated sanctions for rule violators.

Build responsibility for governing the common resource in nested tiers from the lowest level up to the entire interconnected system.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child was put into force 2 September 1990, in accordance with article 49. My daughter taught at Indigenous schools in Canada and you know how many of those reservations have backyards filled with unreported dead kids because they sneakily got funding per registered child.
