The mind is a big black dog, so excited most of the time, bringing us a new ball in every moment. Meditation invites the dog to curl up in front of the “fire” (Spirit); thoughts cause merely a twitch of the ear. The big black dog is now curled up beside Rick, giving him a lick of love.

once I realized 'I am not my sufferring' I was able to be the observer of the suffering and when I am truly practicing this I can acknowledge this sufferring, have compassion for it and not 'be it' and not let it consume me. I am better able to get the lesson it holds, integrate and move forward
