00:40:57 Ingrid Collins: Hello Stanley. Here's my email <ingrid@soul-therapy.co.uk>
00:41:58 Stanley Pokras: Thank you, Ingrid.
00:46:00 Leo Jacoby: I was a hired indoctrinator (religious educator) forty plus years. I saw up close that faith formation of children (and adults--sadly a low priority) can be done poorly, or done well. One tendency is to impose religious language, symbols, answers on children before they have asked a question arising out of their lived experience. We might do better responding to the authentic questions of a child with the wisdom of a tradition as best (and appropriately) as we can. That assumes training and providing mentors who understand child development and the riches of the tradition; then they can complement parents who naturally teach by example and love. Whereas Jesus played with children and taught adults, doing the reverse likely handicaps religious development.
00:47:16 Linda DeHart: Great to see everyone. Linda & I need to leave. Wishes for a great weekend to everyone.
00:47:18 Kurt Krueger: Oh, yeah Leo… 🙂
00:47:32 Shannon McArthur: Great to see you Carolyn and Linda
00:53:56 diana: I thought Will Smith later apologised
00:54:18 Aida Merriweather: thank you everyone. I need to go as well
00:54:27 Shannon McArthur: Aida, thank you for coming!
00:56:39 Leo Jacoby: Repeating a comment I chatted during HR: Religion speaks in mythic language, primarily expressed communally in ritual, and personally, in everyday encounters of the extraordinary in the ordinary (awe). As children we are concrete learners and appropriate any religious tradition first, in literal terms, not relational terms--so essential for the heart of religion. Through academic study, life experiences and reflection we appropriate religious traditions differently. (Or not. I suppose some adults don't give religion a second look, and stay stuck in their child's experience.)
00:58:10 Hyacinth Oesterlin: He has apologised, but the media will not let it go, and many are outraged at the violence, letting down the "black" side, and so on and so on. VERY FEW are willing to say that Will was outraged at the insensitivity of the Comedian in ridiculing his wife. Should comedians be allowed to poke fun at people? I hope that this will eventually provoke the a discussion about this practice.
00:58:47 diana: How sad
01:04:43 Leila Yazigi/Jeantelot: love and light to all
