Text of the Zoom Chat from Humanity Rising Day 334

...

11:09:00 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

Welcome everyone and welcome back to Lars and David with another episode on health this on being Day 334

11:10:18 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Blessings from Kamloops BC, traditional unceded lands of the Secwepemc.  Everyone, please include Everyone in your messages here for we are the One talking to OurSelves.

11:11:13 From Lars Münter to Everyone:

Hello everyone, greetings from both David and I - a pleasure to be back (again).

11:12:14 From Tumaini Fasso to Everyone:

   Blessing from Tanzania!!!

My name is Tumaini Fasso joining from Tanzania

11:12:54 From Richard Buckley to Everyone:

   Welcome

11:13:12 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Such a pleasure to see you both again, Lars and David. I look forward to welcoming you and others to the AfterChat, after your presentation.

11:13:43 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Hello, Tumaini. Welcome!

11:14:59 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Welcome, Jonathan.

11:17:59 From Kathryn Alexander, MA to Everyone:

The role of money as a measure of success certainly needs to change….

11:19:40 From Jøran Solberg to Everyone:

Probably a lot of people get a diagnosis to survive economically?

11:22:12 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

   Dogs on cue!

11:25:44 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

dogs are not “professional”, for instance

11:26:58 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

First chance to tune in for days and - what a joy!! To hear someone supporting the idea that we are not best off with a process that is'interventions are mostly clinical' xxx

11:27:34 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

   Typo - apologies - over-excited hahaha

11:28:33 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Well being could be a core issue, rather than clinical or chemical solutions

11:29:56 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

I love the concept of Navigators - trained but not accredited experts on how to get through the systems in order to solve problems that drive people crazy. Good receptionists are often Navigators without the title.

11:30:00 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Can mental health be funded like the privatized business raise money?  If this continues to be such an issue- seems likely the same privatized fund raising model (pay to play) would disrupt the idea of people making up for everything via inconsistent tax basis.

Seems like taxes are just draconian in its lack of transparency and could use new oversight

11:30:41 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Trauma informed Systems of Care. Circle of Care. Community created, Family driven, Youth guided care that includes physical mental emotional and social health.

11:31:44 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Aho, Shannon, I’d like to see that.

11:32:30 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

There are pockets where this is in full operation, we need to bring to scale.

11:34:13 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Yes I have been working in the lived experience field partnered with other ways of knowing including western thought patterns. Reciprocity!

11:34:36 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Nice to hear… I imagine that’s something that would fit in OhGs ::Https://OurHeartGardens.com::

11:35:09 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Navigators, too

11:36:14 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

People with paper and people without paper.  Western Professionals need a different kind of literacy some times. Move from the them and us thinking to WE thinking.

11:37:14 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Seems so much like senior care and disabled care industry. Are the “agencies” with accredited  caregivers really caring for people with wisdom, healing and heart ?  Recovery takes time and care - the same thing many of the oligarchs have had and give their families - same people who sell pharma, alcohol, JUUL, cigarettes….. all of these lease to declining mental health without affordable care.

Holistic care is the innovation that needs to be brought back and paid for.

11:39:23 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

yes, changing language can help. When we stop talking about  embedding behavioral health into primary care and realize that it is all primary! Speak it differently. Physical health care setting.

11:40:01 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Yea Shannon- new language. Then transformers can define.

   Nee dictionary.

11:42:34 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Tap into collective wisdom.  There are places like the MIGHTY ( online peer to peer chronic illness)

11:43:19 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Listening to people who record their experiences online - interesting and innovative! Thanks, Dr. Yvonne…

11:43:40 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Took a long time to prepare for war and patents for technology to addict all people.

Yes. Innovation for good takes time too. And funding, and innovators who aren’t paid to say the right thing.

Make it personal and people in this field will jar them into empathy. People’s needs matter.

11:44:35 From Hilary Van Welter to Everyone:

I believe that time isn’t a factor in innovation. It can happen in an instant

11:45:09 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

In terms of International efforts there is the International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership.

11:45:17 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Taking the time to allow inspiration is not supported.

11:47:10 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Such an interesting, synchronistic conversation! David - "What matters to you?" possibility, whilst talking to a person who is not able to use her hands (every day a little worse - weeks are passing) and still waiting for a response from the doctor. No response or appt from the hospital!! Have just left them saying, "Give it till tomorrow and if nothing - go to the hospital in person". However, a very insecure person so...…..

11:48:18 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Social support IS happening but - not from the system itself!!! (UK - NHS)

11:49:40 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Yes Diane the systems are broken.  Yes Lars WE

11:50:20 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

hahaha - three of us in the conversation and yes, the 'problem' person was able to laugh with us as - "We're all the same!!" YES - we are!!

11:50:45 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

We are on a continuum of health from optimal to severe.

11:50:54 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

A whole new system for ALL!! Yes please :))

11:51:31 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Yes!! Lurk and learn!! Love that!!

11:52:30 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Yes. Online resources are hugely valuable!!   The break on Facebook and Instagram the other day - was like a huge door closing for community support. People were losing it.

11:53:54 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

The power of belonging.  "these people". People first language please. Example people with a particular issue or illness. Sally has …… not Sally is.....

11:55:35 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Self-organization looks like chaos at first… it takes time and engagement.

11:55:42 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Yes, Sarita!! Person with hand problem was losing it as - they live alone and family just went back to foreign land. However, we were able to say "We are here!" "You do have a community around you - if you'd like to join in!!"

11:55:57 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

You all can be as wide as Joe Rogan. Dr Yvonne could have a conversation with him and bring in the others.  I see his space reaching many and his personality has surprisingly brought in people like Gabor mate and Edward Snowden.  Educates the “groups”

11:56:22 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

Unfortunately, apparently some internet groups encouraged anorexia or suicide.

11:56:37 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

   One world, eh!!!

11:57:30 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Finding the right group on internet is like finding the right group in college, new towns…. We have to be innovative about not being polarized but being inclusive to all having gifts beyond their struggle

11:58:02 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Your have to learn discernment.  Digital literacy. Not currently being taught.

11:58:23 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Heck, we ALL need internet literacy.

11:58:41 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   We need online Navigators!

12:01:02 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Madeline Levine- new book called “Ready or Not”. For kids and parents and all the professionals involved to NOT prepare kids. First book Price of Privilege was released 15 years ago and she feels the needle hasn’t moved with mental health in a mass level - and now it’s on the rise due to social media.

12:01:09 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

We also need face-to-face real life. While we were talking a child and its parent arrived. Child was screaming and parent had no idea what to do (except feel embarrassed) so - Elder joined in and spoke and made the child laugh and all was well but - yes, we need both skills!! Digital as well as human

12:02:49 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

@Diane Skidmore- yes, absolutely. With the pandemic- face to face is getting more challenging for many, not all, but for sure the mask long term can’t be healthy for mental health.

12:02:50 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Ooooh!! "How we communicate""!! Huge field!! wonderful!!

12:04:18 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Retiring receptionists at service organizations would be ideal Navigators, paired with young techies.

12:04:29 From Joy Gilfilen to Everyone:

   ::https://standforthesilent.org/::

12:05:42 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Create community gardens where people work together so Navigators can help those who need help.

12:06:21 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

   Hello, Tumaini...

This day, your participation from Tanzania in a broadcast predominantly serving  elderly English speaking "westerners" demonstrates a major shift in the awareness that global consciousness, or global mind, can have of itself. The global mind's image of itself can be thought of as akin to the "mental image" an individual can have of the reality of which they live within.

I'm specifically NOT speaking of a global "brain." No, the idea of a global brain might imply some form of governance. A global mind or consciousness is more attuned to how art and media operate in human societies.

The effect of your participation here in Humanity Rising is to enable. a shift in our collective understanding of the world.

12:06:53 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Sarita - interesting - the mask. Good to show our faces on line too (rather than just a pic that leaves so much space for deceit - and trouble). I just think our first lesson in life needs to be how to look after and be sensitive to our fellow living being. That includes trees, oceans and plants as well as other humans.

12:07:10 From Kathryn Alexander, MA to Everyone:

Great program - so sorry I have to leave.

12:07:16 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

Taking this shift to a larger context, participation of thousands, millions or billions of people in an ever expanding spiral of awareness is most likely to produce the major shift needed to heal our social interactions, making more peace among religious communities and nations and more care for the state of the natural world we all are part of.

To state this more simply, the more people who make more friends around the world, the better off we will all be... Let's all think about making more friends. Making friends can happen on a very limited budget. Friendships don't require lots of money. Any... and all... or EACH of us... can be part of the healing the world needs simply by paying attention to seeking new friendships. One needs not to have a large number of new friends. But the process each of us building friendships can help everyone... and the planet at the same time.

12:07:44 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

And, of course, there is the idea that "Helpfulness brings people into focus." Being helpful is certainly an element of kindness through which friendships can come about.

Thank you, Tumaini for coming here to become our friend.

   -- Stan

12:07:57 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Mentorship - was the way communities stayed so tightly for centuries. In a garden, in the kitchen, in the farm…..

12:08:37 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

   Yes safety!!

If mental health wellness is mandatory - then crime would go down!

12:08:39 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

If we were all listening and talking to each other, there would be a lot less dis-ease and more well-being!!

12:08:58 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

My apology to those who makde related comments while I was writing up my thoughts. This is a wonderful conversation.

12:09:46 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Everyone:

   With love...

   =========================

12:10:10 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Yes David - teach people how to help themselves. And then help each other

12:10:29 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Host and Panelists:

Rick, please set me up to save the chat... Thank you.

12:10:45 From Suzanne Torres to Everyone:

Personally, I don’t have any social media, don’t watch tv/news, don’t pay for any subscriptions, etc. I find comfort in my community, I get support from my community, and I get my news from my community. I focus on whats going on in my community. I used to suffer from depression and was suicidal when I did have social media and pay attention to the news. Today, many people have wondered why I’m always so happy. I even get accused of faking my happiness because some think it’s impossible to really be this happy. Internet could be useful if utilized properly but I don’t know if we should push people to ever depend on it...... if someone takes a phone away from a teenager,  they feel lost. Support can come from ones loved ones and their community. Let’s not forget that! Let’s push for more community interactions! What do you guys think?

12:11:25 From Stanley Pokras Pokras to Host and Panelists:

   Thank you.

12:12:00 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

   Great comment Suzanne!!

12:12:31 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Suzanne, both are needed, imho. Absolutely we need community, and we also need people who are inspired by communicating online.

12:13:08 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Dr Yvonne could have a favorites list on her site?  That’s how I help people navigate the Costco of online resources. I help cherry pick the right sites for the individual. What’s right for one may not work for the other. Customization is key for healthy growth. Knowing the person and their needs and gifts

12:14:32 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Sarita, sounds like you are a Navigator!

12:14:42 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

And I totally agree with that Shannon. It all has a place. Maybe once we have learned to be happy with our 'self' and learned to ignore propaganda and 'the news' - then we can have the internet as well as human community stuff!!

12:15:01 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Information as power .. so who determines and controls the information.... in our educational systems, etc.... this has not worked out well for certain populations.

12:15:44 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

..inform themselves with what? Who is providing the "information".

12:17:09 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Gutenberg printed the Bible - people learned to read and got their daily dose of Christian medicine/propaganda.

12:17:29 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Why do you think the certain population control education (of women for example).

12:18:04 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

The internet is written by everyone … Shannon, I don’t understand your question. ?

12:18:25 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

   Yes Jonathan!

12:18:34 From Sarita Patel to Everyone:

Jonathon’s system needs to explode like Facebook created a community.

Bitchute and Telegram and Signal are seeing more community growth.

@Shannon- yes. After the big Bible was printed in the early 1700s and brought to America with publishers who were dictating what was published- seems similar to the social media platform. Different tools, same war

12:19:51 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Perspectives need to be shared - sharing needs to be facilitated and encouraged.

12:21:01 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

Yes...and it has elements of control... for example the  fact that certain thing elevated, others lack visibility.

12:21:10 From Stanley Pokras to Host and Panelists:

Yes. We do need to work with them. Absolutely.

12:25:33 From shannon CrossBear to Everyone:

If we can not work with people who are doing things you don't agree with then nothing will ever change.

12:25:51 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Everyone has something to contribute - our challenge is how to find a way to enable them to…

12:26:09 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   And be happy to!

12:26:12 From Joy Gilfilen to Everyone:

It is interesting to listen to all of this...and I am tickled to hear this all come forward. Essential work.  Thank you.

I personally am involved in studying these things from root cause...from the ground up in my own local community.  For 11 years I have done ethnographic research in the reentry, jail industry and law and justice system dysfunctions.  Check out a series of investigative reports, videos that speak to some of the root problems.  ::https://therestorativecommunity.org/jail-tax-abuse/::

12:26:24 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Brilliant David. Communication is key - whether you like people and whether they are good or bad or whatever. Communication is essential

12:26:43 From Joy Gilfilen to Everyone:

   Excellent discussion.

12:28:16 From Diane Skidmore to Everyone:

Thank you all!! Have to go. After Chat? One day xxxxxxxxx

12:28:22 From Joy Gilfilen to Everyone:

At the roots of it, I am watching the domination issue ripple out from corporate level CEO bullying  as it flows down in the disruption of the psyche of our children.  Check this out at:  ::https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCYitrV9RXY&t=11s::

12:28:43 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
