Text of the Zoom Chat from Humanity Rising Day 272

...

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:02 AM)

Happy Thursday Everyone!

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:02 AM)

You forgot INTEGRITY issues. Maybe that’s the source of all of it.

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:06 AM)

Yes, Mary, lack of integrity leading to moral injury

We thank you stewards of our public health — may we re-imagine — and implement improved systems.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:08 AM)

Instead of a “sit in” - I love it!

Blessings to all from Kamloops BC Canada… pls include Attendees here so we can all chat together! Glad you’re here!

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:10 AM)

Can’t help but think of the protesters “Dying in” regarding various wrongs.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:11 AM)

Powerful and uncomfortable (possible) truth, yes, Amy.

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:12 AM)

Yes David, thank you for mentioning this.

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

It isn’t only the systems where the issues begin, it’s individuals taking responsibility for themselves, rich & less rich.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:14 AM)

It’d be good to discuss it more in the AfterChat, David. Hoping to see you there!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

Entire cultures and families have experienced a yanking away - an amputation - of the root chakra. (safety, security, abundance, enough of basic needs...)

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)

It’s a miracle that all the people are waking up as the energies on the planet are rising. It’s all a good thing!

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

NOW, there are chain gang young men in the corn fields in Texas😭

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

This is SUCH an important thing to talk about!

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

I did not see that until now, Bob! Striking.

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

prison slave labor

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

Cindy - well said!

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)

And the bondage continues - Tulsa, internment camps, Asian hate and @Shannon, the recent Tk'emlúps te Secwe̓pemc graves of children.  The system continues to bring us down when we want to rise…

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

“reservoir of infection”

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)

We’re Rising anyway… here and everywhere. They cannot stop it, and it makes them very uncomfortable. No wonder they are fighting so hard.

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:18 AM)

The movie “13th” by Ava DuVernay really illustrates how incarceration was substituted for slavery.

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

The issues we are confronting in & with the Democratic Party as we stand for Diversity Caucuses & an Affirmative Action Plan to include all people to be able to participate is breathtakingly shocking. In public meetings it is present & certain people just won’t see & recognize it.

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

http://www.sixthtone.com/news/1000407/turn-off%2C-drop-out-why-young-chinese-are-abandoning-ambition::

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

So amazing Bob!!!What a gift you are!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)

Thank you Bob!! A brilliant description of what and how 'stuff' is happening - as part of the steps of our cultures and the possibilities of what may happen next!!

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:21 AM)

Regarding “Sang” culture of Chinese youth; they need to reintroduce Chan Buddhism for all these youth!

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:22 AM)

Sakyamuni Buddha realized that death was a reality and created Buddhism

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:22 AM)

"The body is a prison. The mind exists outside. To achieve great things, the mind must be large and well-tempered" - The Prison Diary of Ho Chi Minh.                   Taken along with "We're All Doing Time"" - Bo Lozoff - Life changing potential!!!

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:23 AM)

Addressing trauma is also crucial. And, if I am not mistaken here in US, most inmates score 6-7 ACEs.

Plus racism

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:24 AM)

UK prison system - no longer rehabilitation!! 'They' say that the public want 'punishment' rather than rehabilitation!! In fact, 'they' (the system) breed those thoughts xxx

Yes Liliane!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

Being “given” a time to look inside, without the burden of everyday life tasks — earning a living, paying taxes, feeding oneself; allows time for Awakening. It takes a change of mind and focus, Inside and outside. Attitude is the doorway to the Peace available to each of us.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

RTP: Rehabilitation through the arts in prison ::https://unlockedvoices.org/::

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

My dreams last night were about being in a prisoner camp…

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

Kathryn, wow.

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

Dr. Gabor Mate, trauma therapist, has realized that almost all these “prisoners” experienced childhood trauma and need healing not punishment.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

And yes, Shannon!! If only we were educated to look inside in the first place!!

franka to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)

Kathryn, what was your role there?

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Thank you, Kala, for that wisdom

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

Incarceration has financial benefits to those who own it…. So they have interest in incarcerating… The legal system perpetuates this and feeds the beast.  Invest in schools and communities!!!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)

And yes yes Kala too!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)

Bob, thank you for your rich perspective and wealth of knowledge!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)

Rehabilitation through the arts in prison introduces self-expression through theater, allowing incarcerated persons to heal through telling their personal stories.

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)

I was a prisoner ‘in charge’ of a furniture production line. Trying to change and raise prisoners self-esteem.  My son and former  husband were there too, AS prisoners, not allies.

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)

Thank you Bob!  Great insights.  Don’t forget self-care is key in this work✨💫💫

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:29 AM)

Wow, Kathryn!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:29 AM)

Kathryn, I’d like to hear more;  I hope you can come to the AfterChat today.

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)

When I taught in the early 80’s at Stockholm University. I got to share the values of the Prison Ashram Project bringing Meditation to transform the inside while inside a prison. Rehabilitate instead of punish. The Nordic countries who focus on this have only 20% return rates as America has 80% prisoners return :( let’s start practicing this psycho-somatic-spiritual Meditation that can greatly help, In just 15 minutes: ::https://youtu.be/vv1VxDv80wo::.  “Peace in Everything, Everything with Peace” will reverberate throughout the day… making it the focus and bringing us more peace and also for ‘others.’ Becoming the PeaceMaker radiating Peace.

franka to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)

Wow indeed!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)

Love to see this linked to the Doughnut!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)

How about a new code for living. 1. I will treat my fellow living being with value, respect and honour.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

I’d vote for that, Diane!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)

And all linked to the Doughnut!!

(xxxxx Shannon)

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:32 AM)

Prison Ashram Project in Stockholm- there is deep wisdom there Kurt!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:33 AM)

Lars Münter to Panelists and Attendees (11:33 AM)

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)

He is!

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)

I see

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)

i can see it!

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)

(Changed devices and I see)

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:38 AM)

Davidson, thinking of you in Kenya, recovering from malaria and typhoid, both at the same time… sending love and best wishes!

Oh!! The Doughnut!

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)

The Humankindness Foundation still functions. Bo Lozoff passed on, Sita is still leading it. GREAT Books FREE to prisoners! The Classic is We’re All Doing Time.

franka to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)

Can you highlight the presentation again? I’m on a phone.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:40 AM)

Come back to the recording - all available at OtherNetworks.org

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:41 AM)

I wonder if California does well because it has so many people who live 'alternative' lifestyles. (Not so much part of the system at all!!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:41 AM)

CA has Blue Zone community also

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)

Yes Daine

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)

Diane, this is primarily in big centers.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)

What is Blue Zone community?

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

I wonder who is #1&2 in care systems above Iowa?

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

Pockets of global cultures who live longest ::https://www.bluezones.com/::

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)

Blue Zone = longevity often in the 100s as normal

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)

or used to live longer, may I comment, because even in these countries things are changing.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)

Everything is changing, yes.

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)

Book with that name. He came to Spokane a few years ago.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)

Thanks Kathryn (and - Cindy for the link - interesting)

mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:46 AM)

In West Virginia, we’ve had free vaccines & only 40% of people have gotten them. There are lots of other issues.

Liliane Mavridara to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

Thank you Stephen!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)

Fabulous data!!!

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

That was very striking, Stephen. Thanks

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

Vastly different cultures but with commonalities in Blue Zones= connected sense of belonging within community, plant diets, way of life includes movement/walking = all connected to Root Chakra again, which is our primary connection to the physical world!

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

Re: Blue Zones...also companion book centered on Healthy food called "Blue Zones Kitchen"

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)

Great book, Jane

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)

Brilliant Cindy!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)

Interesting - Mary!! Yes, a lot of issues so - bigger than vaccines and important - mental health and how we create and encourage it - from birth onwards

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Cindy:)

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Wow!! Thank you Anna!!! Brilliant!!

WHO definition of Public Health!!

KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)

Thanks to each of you- off to work appreciate this conversation.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)

We've been living in a lesser way and - need to change.

Oooooh - VALUE health!! And each other!! And the planet!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

Absolutely!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)

We needed a BIG push!!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)

Yaaaay!! Recognised - Health and Wellbeing - as opposed to dealing with dis-ease!!

Highest point of potential!! Gosh, this is lovely!!

She is in full screen for me…

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:54 AM)

Systemic shift - Becoming people/patient centric over profit-centric, and then interconnecting our support networks for wellbeing.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:54 AM)

All inclusive!! YES!!!!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:54 AM)

That was my approach to dealing with cancer - and it worked!

Leo Jacoby to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

"reimagine health as a common good" Wholeness, proactive, preventive (vs. disease focus)

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)

Ancient Chinese medicine: the doctors only got “paid” when the people were well!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

You can feel the shift toward balance on all levels as she speaks it.

Lars Münter to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)

Shannon - at the top right, have you chosen speaker view?

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

Anna, you make it very, very clear! Thanks.

Leo Jacoby to Panelists and Attendees (11:58 AM)

If everyone's health matters, focus public policy and services on the most vulnerable (the lowest 10% however measured.)

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)

As a human race, we are all on a big journey. If only our (supposed) leaders recognised this moment. It IS happening anyway but at the moment it's an 'under' movement!!

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)

Brillant Anna

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)

‘When you change the relationships you change the power and the flow’ of a system’

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)

Synergos does great work on collaboration and systems shift - very practical and successful in various geographies! ::https://www.synergos.org::

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)

'Collective wisdom' and 'participatory' - last night's Doughnut Economics session - an amazing example of minds all working together!! Inspiring!!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)

The imagination is our most powerful gift.

Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

Yup - start a change and ALL the hidden structures just pop up!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

And - imagination - the 'What If.....' series (Transition Town stuff) - AMAZING!!

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

Correct Diane....when will the head and heart combine in our system leaders to shift their consciousness and join the movement forward.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)

Aren't we lucky - to be alive while all this happens!!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)

Alive and healthy!

Most of us, as much as possible…

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)

And Jane - as the movement grows - the leaders will pick it up (we hope hahaha)

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

They’re human too — with bodies of their own…

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:05 PM)

I've been pushed back into my box this week hahaha - well…. that's what they think!!!

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

Oh yes Diane, I have to hope....

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

That’s the way to get the most out of explosives, Diane!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:06 PM)

Hope along with Action xxxxx

Ian K to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)

Brilliant stuff Rebecca... Good to hear these things being said out loud. As difficult as it is to hear.

Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Thanks for your clarity, Rebecca!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Gosh!! Great lady!! Insight!!!

Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:08 PM)

Hurray Rebecca - UBC - economics for life

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)

Hope ensures that energy and motivation can be maintained and trasferred to ACTION.

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)

We need to gather freely in gardens where we can share information and caring and daily tasks so we can help each other!

OhGs, where we grow… happy… together!! ::HTTPS://ourHeartGardens.com::

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

Yes Shannon!! (Or on estates!! Today I covered a part of my estate and did stuff with mental health!! Brill - messages arriving even while I'm here now!! Amazing!! WE CAN ALL HEP!!!

HELP hahaha

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:13 PM)

We’ve designed our societal systems of living around discord, rather than harmony. Now, we know better and know nature gives us all the design we need. It’s up to us to create new systems around nature’s patterns of harmony for our highest well-being.

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (12:14 PM)

https://www.jocoxfoundation.org/loneliness_commission::

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Yes, Diane! OhGs, our estates and unused buildings being repurposed to shelter people where health practitioners can get to them!

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Sheltering people and crops too,

Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

Systems haven't given sufficient effort, priority and funding to addressing the needs of the voiceless in society .

Ian K to Panelists and Attendees (12:15 PM)

So so good to hear things being called out Rebecca. Hats off to you. THANKYOU.

When I was a Health Trainer (for the NHS) I was 'told off' for aiming to give people too much time!! Luckily it was time to retire hahaha

Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:16 PM)

Thanks Stan! See you there… gonna be a good one today!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)

And now, retired, - worked off my feet but - loads of help going on - very rewarding!!!

Marlene Ogawa to Panelists and Attendees (12:18 PM)

Relational Determinants of poverty and wellbeing need to be considered and measured for health determinants.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:19 PM)

My 1st public health job was to launch a new hospice. We were housed in a dungeon of a health dept!

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:19 PM)

Gosh Anna - you're a star. You see changes but - not so sure they are happening here xxx

Ian K to Panelists and Attendees (12:20 PM)

The purpose of a system is... WHAT IT DOES. Not what it says it does, or thinks it does, but what it actually does.

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:20 PM)

Overall happiness and well-being is an observable

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)

Indeed Ian!!!!!

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)

Here's one of the PRIMARY PREVENTIONS for so many issues of our time.

Start early ~ PARENTING is awesomely effective. Read and apply: Nurturing with Love and Wisdom, Disciplining with Peace and Respect: Mindful Parenting, by Diane Tillman. Have the Living Values practices taught is schools… For inspiration listen to this: ::https://youtu.be/nBCJhNiKhFE::

Ian K to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)

Personally, I promote well-being and happiness (via gardens and friendship) and - have to do it (mostly) totally outside 'the system'!!!

Cindy Bledsoe to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

Public health has focused on measuring lack. We can observe and measure the wealth of happiness and wellness and in so doing make more of it.

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

And all for free - except the door just knocked and - my tea arrived (a gift hahaha)

Mary Olson to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)

Prevention results in nothing happening... and sometimes that is a hard sell. Nations that pay for health care via government have more interest in prevention. In USA disease = profit... here prevention is antithetical to the goals of our "disease care system."

AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)

Why do we put up with that?

Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)

Forgive those who grew the rotten system. (They didn't do it on purpose!!) That's why we need a new one and thanks to the pandemic - the time is NOW!!

Developing quality Character traits is vitally important for all levels of society. When will WE emphasize this?

There is one program, ::http://LivingValues.net:: that has over 90% reduction in violence in a Thai Refugee Camp within 2 years! The woman who developed it then went to Johannesburg, RSA and designed a program for street people - similar results!

We can then evolve even further by meditating to the source of thoughts, Consciousness.

Maybe it’s time to lie down in the streets. That should get their attention.
