Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson has a Ph.D. in Psychology from Boston College. He has been President or Co-President of the Association for Humanistic Psychology for many years, making history in 2006 as the first African American and first person of color to be President of this national Association since its founding in 1962 by world-renown psychologists in the field like Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers.

The richness of African-American life is so much more than what is in the media. Sadly the trafficking continues. It’s very difficult to talk truthfully about how to deal with the great harm done within the Black community without being heard as White Supremacy tropes about Black on Black violence.  And yet the woundedness wounding cries out for attention/intervention.  It claims energy. I write from Minneapolis, 6 blocks from George Floyd Square.

I actually found the Grammy Awards to be empowering.  Beyonce has won more Grammy’s than any female since circa the awards began around 1958.  Her music videos seek to empower the African roots and beauty of Black identity. I believe music is a powerful tool to educate and now we need to turn our attention of the dangers of nuke weapons which could destroy us all in a matter of minutes.  MLK saw that threat too.
