This presentation will discuss and showcase images and short videos of black and dark Madonnas from, France, Italy, Spain, and Mexico as gathered in the early 1990s on pilgrimage in quest of an ever-illusive understanding of who she is, where she came from, and what her message is to humanity. These photos and video clips have been in storage for 3 decades and it is with great joy that Anistacia brings them into the light to share with you today. May the wisdom of the Dark Mother bring compassion and light to your lives.
- Anistacia Barrak-Barber is a certified water sommelier and drinking water educator helping clients identify and distinguish the defining characteristics of various waters and their relationships and pairings with food and healthy living. A native of New Mexico, now living in Colorado, she has a bachelor of arts in English literature and communications, and a master’s degree in Ethnic Studies (focused on the Virgin of Guadalupe). She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Wisdom Studies program at Ubiquity University. Prior to her career in water, Anistacia worked in the documentary film industry as a photographer, researcher, and producer for 30 years, working on various topics including the Black Madonna, American Indian art and history, national parks, and science. Her introduction to the Black Madonna began In 1991 when she was invited to join a documentary film project on the subject as a photographer and researcher. For the next several years, with a small team of women documentarians, she traveled across Europe, Mexico, and the United States documenting Black and Dark Madonnas, filming pilgrimages, and festivals, and interviewing scholars and devotees. Unfortunately, the project was never completed. The videographer and founder of the project suffered from a long battle with mental illness and kept the footage hidden away for many years. She grievously passed away in 2021 and Anistacia was entrusted to become the treasure keeper and share the Dark Mother's messages in her memory.
