   Here is some little known history.  They originally brought Geese for feasts and all died but 3 so they kept those to breed so used the local turkey until they built up a geese population.  Then they went back to geese.  The turkey industry decided years later to promote turkey for Thanksgiving and it worked, so then we cook turkey and have to add fat to it like butter & mayonnaise
