Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:07 AM)
What Happened? Suddenly lost Zoom.
Was it just me?
Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:08 AM)
Thanks Rick for getting the Zoom link up again. It went down for everyone.
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:08 AM)
O.K. thanks Stan
Richard Buckley to Panelists and Attendees (11:08 AM)
Our apologies. Zoom went down. Thank you force-joining us.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:13 AM)
Greetings from the traditional lands of the Secwepemc now known as Kamloops, BC. Please add Attendees to your comments here so we chat together. Divine timing…
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)
Oh no!! forgot to switch to All panellists and attendees!! In here now - will add previous comment(s): "Thanks Rick and All. Looking forward to harmonising in a natural way with Life itself" and "Ecesis. A new word!! A new learning? Brilliant!! Thank you xxx"
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)
Good to see you here, Diane! ;)
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)
Greetings!! And LOVE!! xxxxx
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)
Cease to pay attention
Brilliant!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)
Sounds like total transformation!! Also brilliant!! :))
hahaha humanity saving nature may be the solution to nature saving humanity!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:19 AM)
makes sense to me, Diane!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:20 AM)
Words - we play xxxxx What an AMAZING plant!!!
Gosh!! We LOVE plants too!!!
Jim Garrison to Panelists and Attendees (11:22 AM)
Map of wildfires as of today: ::https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/wildfires-air-quality-tracker.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20210720&instance_id=35744&nl=the-morning®i_id=92085506&segment_id=63897&te=1&user_id=7b6d14a2fb0c3bad091be3aa985fac28::
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:22 AM)
Gosh!! We HAVE to be bothered!!!
Any maps of flooding too? (Our XR page has pics of floods that are not being shown on 'normal' media!!)
Carol Bennington to Panelists and Attendees (11:23 AM)
Plus all the multiple fires in western Canada too…
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:24 AM)
Except - almost doing it too - we need to focus on solutions xxx
Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson to Panelists and Attendees (11:24 AM)
Although yesterday I posted a link to an article I wrote awhile ago about how “Mother Earth Speaks” to us, in alignment with today’s theme about Ecesis, I humbly offer the link to that article again: ::https://www.academia.edu/7522109/Mother_Earth_Speaks_Change_Yourself_Change_The_World_Use_The_Archetypal_Energy_Harmony_As_A_Guide::
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)
Western Canadian fires: ::https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/wildfire-situation::
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)
BRILLIANT Cuf. Thank you!!!!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:25 AM)
We need to find ‘solutions’ that are really a new way of living, NOT do to nature knock offs
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)
A plantation is NOT a forest
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:26 AM)
Indigenous people made this continent abundant and beautiful before it was colonized. Learning and applying their ways of life would certainly help.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)
exactly Shannon
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)
Yesterday saw a TED talk (as part of Gaia) - planting tiny forests. (300 trees planted in the space of six cars)!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)
Diane yes - a wonderful potion, but enough?
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)
And yes, Shannon - definitely xxx
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)
option
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)
Diane - 300 trees cannot mature in the space of 6 cars.
imho
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:28 AM)
Agree Kathryn - we need much more. many people tho - can do many ways
And yes, my 'normal' argument - "you can't plant a mature tree/forest!!"
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)
Agree Tesa....humanity-we think entirely too much of ourselves. A substantial dose of humility is required.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:30 AM)
As a human race we have made mistakes. 2020 gave us the chance to put that right! We have to act now tho!!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)
The oldness in forests is key to their resilience
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:31 AM)
Only if oldness = diversity, I believe?
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:32 AM)
Wahaaaay - species - all influenced by each other and by Life!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:32 AM)
I don’t think you can have oldness with out diversity.
Permaculture ideas
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:34 AM)
Phew!! Thank goodness you saw that Tesa - there is no need for competition and in the natural world, the plants are not competing they are helping each other!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:34 AM)
“invasive species”
how to reframe the concept?
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)
There is enough for all - if we take care!! (As indigenous people did I think - took only what was needed!)
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:36 AM)
every people have made mistakes, but when the mistakes are distributed they can be recovered from.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)
Yes Shannon, we can share the load!! (Once we accept the damage done!!)
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)
We’ve done some regenerative agriculture on the ‘Tongva’ territory we live upon. Planted indigenous White Sage for ritual purposes and the diversity/beauty. One plant did well for a about a month, the other is still alive but not thriving… Help. .
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)
Kurt - what does it live with naturally? Plant that too.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)
Kurt, are you watering it too much?
Richard Buckley to Panelists and Attendees (11:37 AM)
We cannot adjust the sound. It is a Zoom problem not the speaker.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:38 AM)
thanks, Richard. It’s ok.
I LOVE that picture you’ve labeled Holism.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:38 AM)
hahaha - Kurt (and Kathryn) was gonna put - 'Does it need a friend?' Who would the plant love to live with?
Holism pic!! Wow!!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)
Holism is how I see humanity rising -
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)
YAY Diane - love your language.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:39 AM)
xxxx hahaha laughing xxxxx
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:41 AM)
Sooooooo interesting!! Some plants like to be close, some need space!! We (clever people hahaha) have to work it out !!
This insight seems wonderful to me - anti-climactic? Not really at all
Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:42 AM)
After reading the writing of Kropotin, Mutual Aid and Richard Dawkins's Selfish Gene, it became clear to me that it's not the "Survival of the Fittest" but instead, it's the survival of the best fitted. Life that gets along and interoperates is the life that survives over time.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)
Diversity dilutes the role of competitive behaviors: fascinating for all levels if bio systems and social systems!!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:43 AM)
And Stan, life (and species) change to fit!!!
Life is AMAZING!!!!!
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)
Where do we find a list and “proportion” of plants/animals for a place like the San Fernando Valley’s San Gabriel Mountain foothills. We have had a bear, plenty of coyotes, opossums, bobcats, used to have masses of birds and bees now so little…
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)
Woo Hoo Stanley! Yes!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:44 AM)
Positive feedback loops!!
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:45 AM)
it is clear that we need to deal with the psychological dynamics of our own self-annihilation as a species via our habitat😂
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)
Kurt - possibly go for re-wilding and the more you do that, natural species (certainly plants if not actually animals) return - as if by magic!!
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)
This is utterly brilliant research!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)
Isn't it just!!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)
Brilliant Diane!
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:48 AM)
Diane, Thats what we’ve been doing guided by indigenous and “Soil Sponge Collective of S. Calif.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)
"Our actions have an out-sized role to play...…" wonderful!! and "Fundamentally connected...…" Gosh, this lady is BRILL!!!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)
mHow to apply this to our political tensions...
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)
Thinking about the wolfes reintroduced into Yellowstone.
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)
William Bloom writing on the Concept of Holism,William Bloom fully describes how the dynamics of the modern world have converged to give us this new and practical philosophy of life, alive with hope and integrity. In a world filled with political and religious conflict, holism disarms fundamentalism yet honors difference. In a society confused about its direction and morality, holism demonstrates the dynamic link between personal fulfillment and global responsibility.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)
Very good question Kathryn. When I am here (HR) I have inspiration and faith that "We're on the road" and politics will follow - just have to keep on keeping on xxxxx
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:50 AM)
Is there somewhere where we can apply all this into our Social Structure. THIS would bring Peace to our Planet and the same time as saving it! Let’s collaborate. Please come to the AfterChat, and/or connect with me, Please. :) OtherNetworks.org/Peace_Lab.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)
Tesa, just mentioned a book - what was it? forgot immediately - not as bionic as needed hahaha
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:51 AM)
Time to embrace!!! Yaaaay!! Thank you Tesa Yes, that was FANTASTIC!!!
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)
Wonderful, thank you Tesa.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)
Resonates amazingly … thank you Tesa!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:52 AM)
Loving that word lately - REGENERATIVE xxxxx
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)
Tessa, how can we find you and be in touch? Utterly brilliant work; so pivotal.
Diane Sue to Panelists and Attendees (11:53 AM)
Tesa, thank you for your extremely clear explanations of these crucial concepts!
E Carney to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)
thank you Tesa for your perspective and clear poetry
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:55 AM)
UC RIverside is so close to me, 90 minutes.
Carol Bennington to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)
Thank you Tesa - great presentation
Yes! to the power of plants in our lives!!!
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:56 AM)
Abundance!
Tesa Madsen-McQueen to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)
Thank you all so very much!! You can connect via Twitter @tesa_folia, or email at tmadsenmcqueen@gmail.com. Infinite gratitude ~
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (11:58 AM)
Yes, loving the echinacea xxx - lovely field xxx
And imagine it all being connected!!!
And thriving!!!
Diane, yes.
Humming along hahaha - wonderful!!!
Thriving BECAUSE it is connected
Absolutely!!!
Aren't we lucky to get to hear let alone understand all this stuff!!
Ecological intact dynamism transforms the time signature- brilliant!
Rock, paper, scissors - just fun to play the game - so play not for winning but for fun!!!
Rock, paper, scissors tag is a really fun, attention training game for quality Physical Education programs. :)
We used to stay up all night and play backgammon, taking it in turns to follow different dice patterns - just for fun
Thank you - we LOVE weeds!!
But also - entropy and death are part of life!! It's all OK!!
Except the desert doesn’t regenerate by itself. Nature could use our help!
Gosh!! Look at that pic!!!
Yes Shannon - nature needs humanity (to rise hahaha)
They're just part of life going on xxx
Phew!! All about the consciousness!!
I SO love Justin’s understanding of the consciousness of LIFE!!!!
when was the Amazon planted? What caused humanity to plant the “lungs of the Earth”?
Kathryn - totally agree. Shannon - no idea hahaha
Reminds me of my kids - "Why?" hahaha
Humanity wasn’t around when the Amazon started! It is one of the ecosystems that survived the comet that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs
That’s how nature is resilient
Wow!! Thanks Kala!!
That sentence - "Succession = gradient,...… " plus more. Looked interesting too
We’ve been part of mass extinctions before - this is not the first time this process is being learned, I suspect… Ah, Kala, I wonder if the people who wrote what I read knew that. Lots of possibilities …
'Scab plants' - almost worse word than 'weedy' hahaha
I daily walk up our hill and attempting to commune with the plants/birds/animals. I once recently asked the plants, :”how can I help?” They said, “You are, Be and simply listen!”
And, coincidently, the same day on Humanity Rising Day 226 --
Communicating with Animals: A Dialogue with Pea Horsley - ::https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E0rWDHwlLQ::
Coefficient of Consciousness… oooo!!
Plants and fungi climbed out of the sea as some of the earliest biosystem that populated the Earth; humans occurred only 3 seconds ago in earth time , if earth is like the face of a clock!!
"Be and Listen" - wonderful answer xxx
Another great event, thank you Justin and yes, Tesa’s presentation was so good! I have often questioned this “oh let’s plant 10 million trees” start a non-profit blah blah and they’ve very little knowledge of the gestalt of it all. I learned a lot more and hope to follow the work of both of you!
We tried blueberries the second round of regenerative planting, only one out of 4 is left. :(
Blackberries have choked the landscape of the SW Coast of Canada - I LOVE blackberries!
Yes Suzy "Plant a million trees....." a bit blah blah but - it will all help (I think)
Its perception of survival perhaps?
Justin, this is so interesting.
Some wisdom traditions have also said thorns (& poison ivy) are barriers to protect areas. Thrilled to hear you say similar statement.
We can go little over time given our late start.
Incredible - the nursing stage of the plant.!! What information!! will have to watch this again and take notes!! We live and learn, eh
Yes, interacting with and honoring plants are sacred rituals!!!
I LOVE how Justin thinks!!!
Humans are also created to CONTRIBUTE. As simply as spreading our urine+ around soils… Auto urine cure is useful for some illnesses like impetigo. It worked for me before leaving India in 1977.
Right On Man!
Beautiful- research as ritual, communing with nature
And as Justin speaks - the mind of the scientist expanding - BRILLIANT!! Opening up - wonderful - more than science and that's fine!!
Love your philosophy, Justin.
Soo much to learn. Fantastic presentation Justin.
Life has cycles! Waves…
sounds like the definition of philosophy or the wisdom process
This is an interesting match - extension of the Alexander model for change.
I will never look at a field the same way again.
Elisabeth Sahrtoris was on HR and was wonderful!! Love her book(s?)
What fantastic process - so true!! We know - ooops we don't know - -ooops OK we may learn more. Yaaay We're on the road xxx
HR is the best education system for now. Diversity, expansive, inclusive, positive …
Yes Kurt!! Aren't we LUCKY!!!!
On sooooo many levels xxx
Wonderful - contrasting Maslow & Succession!
May that be what we are now experiencing!
Love this Selfish to compassionate..
Kathryn, you said it before I could write it!!
The Peace Lab’s development is a good example of that. The persistence allows us to prevail and spread Peace In Everything, Everything With Peace. Join us, see how: OtherNetworks.org/Peace_Lab
Ecological systems: psychosocial systems
YES! learn our own backyards - & urban areas too
Transient species - humans?
Right Diane
All species over time
Personal connections with plants are informing and relational!!!
And helpful!!
Yup the ‘circle of care’ as I call it.
An important conversation today.
Let’s continue it in the AfterChat!!
Justin - have you put any of this in a book?
Robin Wall Kimmerer suggestions we refer aspects of Nature as our KIN to recognize our connection and interdependence in our daily language.
WOW, what a day. THANK YOU all. :) Blessings abound when You’re around.
gotta boogie. THANKS so much!!
Thank you so much, Justin. Amazing work!!
So - the sooner we all become conscious, the better, eh
Thank you Justin for your work, your views/vision and this presentation.
“Plants are the crux of bioregionalism” Justin Thomas
if we could all be as conscious as a seed
Thank you Justin - almost as good as Tesa (said lightheartedly - as a whole - WONDERFUL presentation!!)
Big question - do we have the time?????
Kathryn, does it matter? Really?
This week after fifteen years or so, a lady asked me if it's OK to plant a pumpkin outside my door!! Brilliant!!
Agree K and S - just do it!!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:31 PM)
Congratulations, Diane!! (a bit late, but…)
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:31 PM)
IF we want to actually stay here….
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:32 PM)
We have to - do our best!! Quickly - but with care xxx
Focus on the progress and the possibilities
That's why we had the pandemic so - stop and think and change!!! ASAP!!!
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:33 PM)
Be the change we want to see.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:33 PM)
How can we contact Justin?
E Carney to Panelists and Attendees (12:33 PM)
Humans can contribute, we are not just destructive. We can do something about it, as stewards, like the indigenous know how to do. We can learn to be “moving forward “ with a better consciousness
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)
We are in the “trough of disillusionment”, as you pictured for us, Justin. Humanity rises now through the slope of enlightenment. Love your work!!
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)
Re: Do we have time? Answer- Do it anyway because it is the right thing to do. I believe this is Sacred Activism.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)
WONDERFUL Justin - They didn't know!!!! Forgive them, they didn't know.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)
Maybe humans will evolve into another more conscious species?!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:34 PM)
And beautifully presented!! Thank you both for coming and speaking with us.
Suzy Karasik to Panelists and Attendees (12:35 PM)
Yes, I agree jim, excellent presentations, I loved it as I do most all of what you so graciously provide! Fantastic
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:35 PM)
“Elasticity of Time embedded in the ecosystem”
E Carney to Panelists and Attendees (12:35 PM)
deep gratitude
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:36 PM)
Yes, thank you both sooooo much!! so informative!! And calm!!! It WILL be OK!!!
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:36 PM)
Justin’s website : ::https://conservationresearchinstitute.org/forms/CRI2020Seminar.pdf::
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:36 PM)
Maybe extinction is the next step but this time we'll live through this bit!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)
the cycles of the planet spinning around the sun make extinction almost inevitable. imho.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)
Kala - thank you!!!!!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:37 PM)
Mother Earth holds all the blueprints and brings back what she desires to play on Her.
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:38 PM)
A bigger picture. Yes. Bad things happen. And we pull through!! consciously direct ourselves to a better place!! All life - not just the humans xxx
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:39 PM)

Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:41 PM)
This is a Very busy chat!!!
Carol Bennington to Panelists and Attendees (12:41 PM)
Grateful science explorers, like you, are recognizing similar wisdom the original peoples have shared with us over time!
Sébastien Roussel-Konan to Panelists and Attendees (12:42 PM)
Nice thesis Tesa
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:42 PM)
our atmosphere is changing -
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:42 PM)
Yes Stan - a great day!!
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:43 PM)
Justin - what were you going to say? Come to the AfterChat - we want to listen!!!
Diane Skidmore to Panelists and Attendees (12:43 PM)
We need to be learning and adapting now - maybe this info could be really helpful. Invite them back so we can work on it (maybe)
E Carney to Panelists and Attendees (12:44 PM)
Jim “responsibility of the individual species “
Jean Stevens to Panelists and Attendees (12:44 PM)
So true, these extinction events will happen if we all don’t wake up and together make the much needed change ASAP.
Sébastien Roussel-Konan to Panelists and Attendees (12:44 PM)
Yea the boomers and gen-xers altered the chemical composition of our atmosphere without paying attention to chemistry during the industrial age.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:44 PM)
Maybe, earth will undergo another cycle of melt and ice and then reemergence of entirely new biological systems
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:44 PM)
You got it Tesa
sally annett to Panelists and Attendees (12:45 PM)
