Disrupting and replacing systems to solve the most complex problems facing humanity.

Amidst the biodiversity crisis and Climate degradation and destruction, we have people and organizations around the globe working to protect, preserve and restore Mother Earth, our common home. These social entrepreneurs, business leaders, scientists and passionate individuals are working within the systems, disrupting and replacing systems and bringing together individuals and organizations to solve some of the most complex problems facing humanity.

    Sally Ranney is the President and Co-founder of American Renewable Energy Institute and the AREDAY Summit, and President and Co-founder Global Choices. She works in the public and private sectors at the local, national and international levels in land management, renewable energy, wetlands banking and impact investing as well as biodiversity, wildlife and wildlands preservation, sustainable adn circular economies, water and watershed management/restoration and climate change solutions. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including the Horace Albright Award, the International Conservation Award, Earth Guardians’ Earth Stewardship Award among others.
  • Marie-Noelle Keijzer is the Co-Founder and CEO of WeForest. She is a forward-thinking social entrepreneur committed to resolving the biggest challenge humanity is facing-climate change. She holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from ULB Belgium and an MBA from IADE Spain and is a member of Al Gore’s Climate Reality Corp.
  • Julia Whidden joined the UW-Madison Arboretum team in 2021 and is originally from Niagara Falls, Canada. She earned her Masters in Biology from Acadia University in Nova Scotia in 2015, after which she was a Fulbright Visiting Researcher in shark conservation at the University of Miami. As the Arboretum’s Citizen Science Coordinator, she leads projects on dragonflies, bluebirds, springs, and fungi, and is honored to coordinate the long-standing monarch butterfly citizen science program the ‘Monarch Larva Monitoring Project’ (MLMP). Julia is passionate about the transformative educational and environmental impacts of citizen/community science, and feels privileged to have worked on citizen projects in Canada and the USA with children and youth, adults, Indigenous communities, and more.
