This Week: The Masculine Dialogues

This session begins a five day ten session program on masculinity and maleness in contemporary society. There will be two sessions each day at 8:00 - 9:30 AM PST and 12:00 - 1:30 PM PST. Men face as many challenges as women albeit in very different ways as both genders evolve in our very dynamic world. In this program, we will listen to women as well as men, youth as well as elders concerning the pathway forward for men as all of us shake off the shackles of patriarchy. New forms of sexuality, gender, relationships and authenticity are bursting all around and men, like women, have an unprecedented opportunity for re-discovery and re-imagination.

In this opening session, we will dialogue with Michael Meade, one of the dons of the men’s movement over many decades. Michael is a renowned storyteller, author, and scholar of mythology, anthropology, and psychology. He combines hypnotic storytelling, street-savvy perceptiveness, and spellbinding interpretations of ancient myths with a deep knowledge of cross-cultural rituals. He has an unusual ability to distill and synthesize these disciplines, tapping into ancestral sources of wisdom and connecting them to the stories we are living today.

He is the author of Awakening the Soul, The Genius Myth, Fate and Destiny: The Two Agreements of The Soul, Why the World Doesn't End, The Water of Life: Initiation and the Tempering of the Soul; editor, with James Hillman and Robert Bly, of Rag and Bone Shop of the Heart; and the creator of the Living Myth Podcast.

Meade is the founder of Mosaic Multicultural Foundation, a nonprofit network of artist, activists, and community builders that encourages greater understanding between diverse peoples.

The session will conclude with comments from Lion Goodman, founder of Luminary Leadership Institute and the Clear Beliefs Institute, and George Cappannelli, founder of Age Nation, who have also been deeply involved in the men’s movement. Luminary Leadership Institute and Age Nation are co-sponsoring this program with Humanity Rising. Both Lion and George are convening various sessions for The Masculine Dialogues.
