@Paul, I would argue, using the Tanakh/Torah, that the word God (as mentioned in the bible) is the word ELOHIM which was 'wrongly' translated by the Masoretes, who admitted they translated wrongly together with many other words such as Kavod, Ruach, Elyon etc...
ELOHIM has an unknown meaning, but more than likely refers to a group of beings from 'somewhere else'... also known as the 'Divine Council'.
I'm not plucking these comments out of thin air, its actually from the Hebrew texts such as Psalm 82

@Charry, yes i agree, it is plural and previous to King Josiah's rule, Judaism was Polytheistic... Meaning that 'Yahweh' was not the only 'diety' as it is proven that Yahweh had a wife named Asherah. Evidence of this can be found in an ancient temple ruins in Tel Arad in Israel.
