I think about this down to the cause and effect of my actions - such as house care, lawn care (I’m mostly organic), driving, flying, eating, etc. and the effects I have on the other species or water/air on the planet - And it can be pretty difficult, up until now, but IMHO awareness and (using your word) the choice(s) we make and take with our daily interactions is everything from the individual level, which will feed the collective level. I am certainly far from perfect though much more conscious than I used to be… admittedly, it’s tough on the heart sometimes when I ‘feel’ my choices are limited.

When I was living in Crestone there was a permanent population of around 1000 people. There probably are more now. It is at an elevation of 8500 feet so year round gardening requires a greenhouse. It can be below freezing for several months running. Crestone is in the poorest county in the state of Colorado.

Yes true and the issue is we think ethics when we need to apply morality and all that this entails . No child needs to die of hunger and sharing wealth is an issue .
I have always thought it is so very immoral that the poor pays the same amount for groceries that billionaires pay .Why are there only food banks when we need actual stores that sell groceries for a smaller profit for those in need . No food stamps are not the answer , they are not commiserate with prices in the actual grocery stores.
The military have BX, PX etc. so why not
Fed X 's for all who need the dignity of buying their own groceries for minimum wage folk using food stamps or their own money would be moral and fair .
