00:22:17    Daniel (Thoth Trismegistus):    Does any One Have an Answer for What Causes Masculinity To Become Toxic?

00:22:42    Leo Jacoby:    ::https://realmenfeel.org/2019/08/27/ep-145-the-good-men-manifesto/:: (Jed Diamond August 27, 2019 podcast)

00:23:16    Shannon McArthur:    Daniel, I believe it is the experience of the child that creates toxicity — of many kinds.

00:23:28    Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network:    Whatever sex or gender, “What is the mystery of peace, that when we discover and embrace, our realization of it would be faster and easier?”

00:23:42    Leo Jacoby:    Societies of Peace: Matriarchies Past, Present and Future by Heidi Goettner-Abendroth, Editor 8/30/2009

00:24:30    Shana James:    Wow this is so interesting Betty.

00:25:01    diana:    Name of book, again?  And author?

00:25:30    Daniel (Thoth Trismegistus):    Replying to "Daniel, I believe it..."

Interesting, Thank you for your Answer...

00:26:14    Ola Akinwe:    how about toxic femininity?

00:27:58    Shana James:    Looking at boys empowerment feels important! I appreciate bringing in the framing of boys, not just men.

00:28:02    Shana James:    Thank you so much y’all for being in this conversation. I have to go take care of my kid. Hope to see you tomorrow!

00:29:03    Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network:    See how conditioned we are sitting, stagnating the blood flow, etc. for long periods of time as opposed to our human norm or movement. See the power of movement for the mind in Dr. John Ratey’s work at Harvard U. The speakers mentioned the value of the somatic. :)

00:29:07    Lisa Hickey:    I am so sorry, I have to jump off. It was such a pleasure talking with you all and I hope to stay connected.

00:36:10    Daniel (Thoth Trismegistus):    In What Ways Do Toxic Masculinity and Femininity Manifest?

00:39:25    Stanley Pokras:    Could it be that “toxicity” be the associated with competition. The compition for access to reproduction.

00:39:29    Ola Akinwe:    Please join us this Saturday if your time permits

00:39:47    Shannon McArthur:    Thanks, Ola.

00:45:21    diana:    @Betty - The Research you were Talking About, the book which is probably out of print, you think -  what is the Name of the book and the female Researcher?

00:47:16    Leo Jacoby:    Ola Akinwe: Exploring Boys Feminization in the 21st Century, Saturday, July 29, 2023 11 am ET on Zoom 848 0935 5758 Passcode: BMAN

00:47:35    Shannon McArthur:    Thanks, Leo!!

00:47:37    Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network:    I got to spend some time with Madam Sirleaf of Liberia, and I got to spend a few hours with Wangari Maathai, a great and kind lady. She won the Noble Peace Prize for planting trees and wrote a great book, Unbowed: A Memoir.

00:48:29    Leo Jacoby:    Diana, see my chat posts: > ::https://www.spdbooks.org/Products/9780978223359/societies-of-peace-matriarchies-past-present-and-future.aspx:: (Societies of Peace: Matriarchies Past, Present and Future by Heidi Goettner-Abendroth, Editor 8/30/2009. 449 pp. celebrates women's largely ignored and/or invisible contribution to culture by exploring matriarchal societies that have existed in the past and that continue to exist today in certain parts of the world.

00:50:49    diana:    Thanks, Leo Heidi Goettner.  I had completely missed the Name when Betty was speaking, so didn't realise.  Great Research!!! As usual!!

00:52:06    Dr. Betty Woodman:    @Diana - The book is "Societies at Peace" and I believe it was edited by Signe Howell.  It was a collection of research chapters. Johanna Overing (from memory) was the one who wrote about the Shavante and Piora (again, spelling) but many of the chapters were really good. Doug Fry has also produced a good book about some of these cultures, although different ones.

00:52:27    Dr. Betty Woodman:    And actually, it's a different "Societies at Peace!!!" Same name, different book.

00:52:56    diana:    Thanks, Betty!  So fascinating.

00:52:57    Dr. Betty Woodman:    I'm sure this group is all familiar with Riane Eisler's "Chalice and Blade," yes?

00:53:30    diana:    The Name, yes - but not the content

00:53:31    Shannon McArthur:    Yes, Riane has spoken on HR. Great writer and speaker!

00:53:51    Shannon McArthur:    You’re right, Diana. Wish I knew more.

00:54:35    Dr. Betty Woodman:    Replying to "The Name, yes - but ..."

It's excellent!

00:55:29    Leo Jacoby:    > ::https://archive.org/search?query=Wangari+Maathai+Unbowed%3A+A+Memoir:: (includes podcast links)

00:57:44    Dr. Betty Woodman:    What a fascinating conversation! I've enjoyed all your comments!  Need to leave now, but thank you.

00:58:03    Shannon McArthur:    Great to have you join us!

00:58:09    Leo Jacoby:    Betty, thanks for the correct title: ::https://archive.org/details/societiesatpeace00howe:: (Societies at peace : anthropological perspectives by Howell, Signe; Willis, Roy G. 00:59:00    Dr. Betty Woodman:    Thanks, Leo! Good to know where to find the archive!

01:00:30    Daniel (Thoth Trismegistus):    Could it Be that the Traits Associated with the Masculine and Feminine Aspects of our Being as Viewed From the Contemporary Perspective of our Modern Society Is not In Complete Congruence with their True Nature?

For Instance, Is Mental Fortitude Really only a Masculine Trait By Nature, or Is it Actually a Misunderstanding Born of a Systematic  Conditioning Based Upon the Increasingly Misaligned Expectations Maintained At a Societal Level, that Has and Still Is In it Self Purported In Accordance with such a Fundamental Misunderstanding of the True Nature of these Aspects, Effectively Creating a Feedback Loop of "Toxic Conditioning" of the Children?

01:05:46    Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network:    Josef, TY for the Pause that refreshes. 🙂

01:08:44    Paul:    I agree Josef, but we have to see what THE Problem is clearly.

01:12:43    Stanley Pokras:    The language is important and so are the agreements that language facilitates.

01:12:46    Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network:    Josef, your name covered the lower portion of your quote.

01:12:46    Stanley Pokras:    Agreements

Everything we know, everything we see, everything we do together depends on agreements. Language is a tool for making agreements, writing is a tool for recording agreements, money is a tool for enumerating and assigning value to our agreements. Agreements among people are the basis for our conscious reality. Without a process for agreed upon concepts, our reality would be awash with meaningless sensations.
