11:12:47 From Stan Pokras to Everyone:
Here’s John Montgomery’s bio and list of appearances on Humanity Rising https://othernetworks.org/John_Montgomery
11:13:13 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
Nice shirt Jim -- has purple in it. ;-)
11:13:45 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Just attribute Green House Gasses , related to production and shipping of commodities, to the IMPORTING counties, NOT the exporters.
11:13:51 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
Very fancy prayer flags!
11:18:59 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
I’m not certain that the suggested audience for this book, are willing to reduce their ROI, to introduce ANY adaptations to their business model that increase costs that can’t be absorbed by their clients.
11:20:52 From Shannon McArthur to Host and Panelists:
Apparently, Kevin, you are correct.
11:21:24 From Shannon McArthur to Host and Panelists:
At least looking at the companies.
11:23:56 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
The historical expectations of ROI, needs to be eradicated, otherwise adaptations will take far longer than we have the time for.
11:26:05 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Is the screen share supposed to be advancing?
11:26:49 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Guess not. We’re on Scope 3 now.
11:27:16 From Stan Pokras to Shannon McArthur, Host and Panelists:
Kevin won’t see your comment… switch to “everyone”
11:27:35 From Shannon McArthur to Host and Panelists:
Thanks Stan; got confused!
11:38:56 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Unless all these implementation concepts REDUCE cost or at LEAST remain cost neutral top the 1%, will they be willingly implemented; or is regulation the final deciding factor?
11:39:44 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
To see John speaking to us, click the “Escape” key, to escape from the full-screen screen share.
11:40:49 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Kevin, your questions are very pointed. Thank you.
11:41:45 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Risk managers are all focused on margin maintenance 1st…….
11:42:14 From Jane Norton to Everyone:
I am a Duke customer (not by choice) and they pretend they are supporting solar and alternatives.
11:44:05 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
Hi Kevin. Good point/question. Legislation is a poor driver of good behaviour as it does not support the exercising of values. in The UK & much of Europe, there is a great sweep toward shareholder valueS [- as in it's not all about money] where companies are better investment value when environmentally business-modelled.
11:44:43 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Jane, send the recording of this to Duke’s top management and remind them they can be replaced.
11:46:06 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
So what is this hydrogen jet fuel?
11:46:44 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Ian, hopefully you can join the after chat…thanks for your input.
11:46:57 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
Would the hydrogen fuel also work for cars?
11:47:56 From Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network to Everyone:
We are beating a dead dog without changing the form that destroys our environment we’re still fueling the monster.
11:48:13 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Strategy #1, reduce disparity throughout the lines in your business model
11:48:36 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
^^^^^what Kurt said
11:49:32 From Heather Tischbein to Host and Panelists:
How can these “principles and practices” be applied to governments…especially at state, county, and municipal levels. Especially governments that are engaged (allegedly) in “comprehensive growth management (land use and economic development) planning”?
11:50:46 From Stan Pokras to Everyone:
Tesla created a industry change… the packaging industry could use a heroic effort to supply the world with compostable packaging…
11:50:47 From Jane Norton to Everyone:
@Shannon- great idea! Thanks!
11:51:13 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
🙂
11:52:32 From Tricia Fortina to Everyone:
Could someone ask...? Electric cars have the battery issues, where there's not enough raw materials to produce them... if many people were to go that route. And, what about putting these large batteries into the landfill when finished? And, then there's the prohibitive cost, where many folks couldn't afford them. (I don't remember if it's California's governor, who wanted to put a mandate into effect that everyone had to get an electric car by a certain timing)…
11:53:24 From Jane Norton to Everyone:
"creating a safe, loving container for the reader' is very admirable. More of us need to do this in our conversations and writings.
11:53:45 From Stan Pokras to Everyone:
Many products we buy have a customer service number printed on the package. If lots of customers called the producer of the products they buy, the companies could be convinced to see out compostable materials for their packages.
11:53:46 From Meg Newhouse to Everyone:
I agree with Kurt’s comment: we need to change our basic “story” and relationship with Earth. But in the meantime, is there a reliable source that will tell us who is seriously moving toward net zero. Or trying transformative projects sensitive to the Earth’s needs?
11:54:44 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
The Friedman Doctrine / Shareholder Theory
Economist Milton Friedman developed the doctrine as a theory of business ethics that states that “an entity’s greatest responsibility lies in the satisfaction of the shareholders.” - this was mistaken interpreted as "Therefore, the business should always endeavor to maximize its revenues to increase returns for the shareholders." - Satisfaction is selective - supporting a great & ethical company is very satisfying...
11:54:48 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Electric from water power will be impacted by drought.
11:54:49 From Stan Pokras to Everyone:
Companies should seek out compostable materials for their products. And stop using plastics.
11:56:20 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Grow your own food!
11:56:45 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Localize your impact circles
11:58:13 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
There is a great 'First Mover Advantage" in product higher level ethics.
11:58:24 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
The idea of BUYING our way to sustainability is ridiculous
11:59:49 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
https://www.overshootday.org/how-many-earths-or-countries-do-we-need/
12:00:06 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Is there any mention of afforded disparity within existing supplychains being an issue ?
12:00:06 From Stan Pokras to Everyone:
I often get offers to switch my electric producer to a company that claims that they produce carbon free energy. Are the better business bureaus keeping track of the promises that these new energy suppliers make?
12:00:10 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
One world is not enough.... oooops!
12:00:29 From Rita Marsh to Everyone:

12:01:16 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:

12:01:27 From Carlos Prosser to Everyone:
12:01:41 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
*Current supplychain systems
12:01:53 From Heather Tischbein to Everyone:
would greatly appreciate a copy of the book to share with citizens in Clark County WA who are in the process of updating the county’s comprehensive growth management plan…designing a future for 2050. These ideas will be invaluable to the conversations beginning here.
12:02:11 From Tricia Fortina to Everyone:
I'd love an audible version? I could make a donation to your website??
12:02:36 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
How heavy is the book? Heavy enough i can hit a CEO over the head with it, while i’m locked onto an earth mover???
12:02:48 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
For the book --
12:02:56 From Charles Bensinger to Everyone:
New film “The Lost Century” due out in June will reveal history of suppressed advanced energy technologies and show tested new energy generators that will render fossil fuels unnecessary and uneconomic. The fossil fuel era will become history. See www.thelostcenturyfilm.com
12:03:01 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Hahaha! Kevin - how not peaceful of you!
12:03:09 From amanda sebris to Everyone:

12:03:11 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
The humility needed to accept the number of changemakers in the world is huge. We have 2000 organisations as partner-members of World Cetacean Alliance.org The humility and honouring needed to keep us all moving is fantastic and so full of great energy...
12:03:53 From Linda DeHart to Host and Panelists:
I can enter the book into the Cambridge MA USA area and network it
12:04:04 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Disparity is never discussed
12:04:04 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Amanda, thanks for being and doing!
12:04:17 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

12:05:50 From lysa leland to Host and Panelists:
Thank you so much for this informative presentation. Do you find carrots or sticks more effective
in moving from intention to action?
And which ones?
12:05:52 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Ian, let’s look at that in the AfterChat!
12:06:31 From Linda DeHart to Host and Panelists:
In Cambridge MA USA
12:06:31 From Charry Stover to Everyone:
Amazon lists it on audible
12:06:52 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
There are no boundaries where climate is concerned. We are all in one tight/tightening spot.
12:06:56 From Meg Newhouse to Everyone:
Thanks so much, John. I will have to go to the recording, since I must leave. I like that you adopted Theory U approach with no judgment.
12:07:18 From Kurt Krueger, PeaceMakers Circles/Network to Everyone:

12:08:16 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
The current expectations of ROI is fundamentally a cornerstone of these problems
12:08:48 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
Does the book highlight ROI adaptations?
12:09:40 From Leo Jacoby to Everyone:
Links for your Interfaith / Anderson references?
12:09:47 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:

12:10:42 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:

12:13:19 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
Once we have confidence in all our futures, including personal, family and retirement thriving, the degree of fear present and courage needed to make these changes happen, whether in the board-room or on the shop-floor, remains far to great for sensible future thinking & actions.

12:15:53 From Bryan Blakely to Host and Panelists:
What exactly is “a carbon-free grid?”
12:16:16 From Charles Bensinger to Everyone:
The grid is now way too vulnerable to climate change-driven water events and hackers who can easily disrupt power stations.
12:17:43 From Kevin he/him Canada to Everyone:
The ROI expectation is the Paralysis, as progressive ideas cost more that the current systems in place; across the board
12:20:31 From Ian Lewis to Everyone:
Hey, Kevin. You know the story: What you focus on grows...e.g., the bad wolf story. We have plenty of focus growing the right [good] wolf, but the focus [even the mentioning] on the bad wolf is a real problem. Gift a great place to be and go, and movement happens.... :))
12:20:45 From Michael Putz to Host and Panelists:
Barrier to Net Zero is primarily a vertical developmental leadership problem. Most corporate leaders are centered in non-systemic mindsets that makes it very difficult to formulate, implement and sustain genuinely transformative and sustainable Net zero business models. So vertical development of senior decision makers are key prerequisites to achieving the vision we all share. And it can’t be just one heroic leader - it requires a change of leadership culture for the change to be sustainable when the heroic leader moves on.
12:21:36 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:
Love that, Ian.
12:21:48 From Charles Bensinger to Everyone:
A 300 foot wind generator suffered a catastrophic collapse last month in rural Wisconsin. Rural folks here are ferociously fighting giant wind farms. They feel their communities and farmland is being turned into “industrial energy sacrifice zones.”
