Humanity Rising Day 653 After Chat   –   Wednesday March 15, 2023

Chat from AfterChat Zoom from HR Day 653:

aka ChatPeople Chat

...

00:04:32    jmontgomery:    I'll be right there folks.  JOhn

00:04:39    Kurt Krueger:    Wasn’t baking soda used for cleaning teeth

00:05:42    Stanley Pokras:    TED Talk: Why I live a zero waste life ::https://othernetworks.org/TED_Talk:_Why_I_live_a_zero_waste_life::

00:12:05    Ian Lewis:    When offered two extremes, normally one finds the right answer lies between. This is a 3000 yr old strategy to win any argument. Few are really good at finding the middle ground of the acceptable [and probably most correct/feasible] answer.

00:12:38    Tricia Fortina  ; ) Ventura CA:    John...   Regarding electric cars and their batteries...    Is the electric car really a solution?  Because there's the cost of the vehicles... which many folks couldn't afford.  There's the battery production and I understand there aren't enough resources to produce what the demand would be.  And, the battery's are large and the disposal of them into the landfill is a problem.  Also, battery replacement is costly, 7 + years down the road.   Help me understand this...   Thanks  ; )

00:15:46    Ian Lewis:    ….and then there is 'bleating': saying the right thing to the wrong people,

00:16:41    Ian Lewis:    I am one such, Kevin.

00:18:44    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    John, it’s quite an AfterChat today; I am usually more successful in herding these cats… but I love them all.  We do have fun, and share amazing perspectives!

00:19:01    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    Rob, please mute your mic.

00:19:46    Leo Jacoby:    John, thank you for introducing me to Ray Anderson and Interface..

00:21:17    Leo Jacoby:    I would like to hear from Ian and from John

00:22:44    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    I see your hands, Ian and Dawn. Working your way…

00:23:55    Leo Jacoby:    Stan, do we have three minute rule?

00:24:17    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    Stan is so passionate about this!

00:27:39    John Montgomery:    Folks, I’m going to sign off at 10:00.

00:27:58    Kevin He/him Canada:    Ian, are you familiar with the Beyond Politics campaign for the mayorship in 2019?

00:28:02    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    Thanks for coming and listening, John. It means a lot to us.

00:28:15    Kevin He/him Canada:    Thanks john

00:30:02    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    John, to get a copy of the chats and links to the recordings of HR & access to OtherNetworks.org, please add your email address!

00:30:30    Kevin He/him Canada:    The common denominator of every fallen empire is greed

00:31:15    Kevin He/him Canada:    Monopoly was invented by a woman in early 1904-6 , the original name was called ‘Landlord’

00:31:43    Kevin He/him Canada:    I recall from a recent discussion on international womans day

00:32:11    Ian Lewis:    We should remember that the US is very ROI / profit-centred. Much of the rest of the world - not all - is more capable of listening because it knows it must.

00:33:07    John Montgomery:    jmontgomery@lexultima.com

00:33:37    Leo Jacoby:    Some links on John and Ray shared today (click to download before chat closes)

00:36:50    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    Flags of One Family

00:37:24    Leo Jacoby:    Ian, I liked your link you shared in HR: ::https://www.overshootday.org/how-many-earths-or-countries-do-we-need/::

00:42:42    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    It was really interesting, I agree Leo

00:49:33    Tricia Fortina  ; ) Ventura CA:    Hi Dawn...      Perhaps email that to me regarding contents of batteries...??  triciablendedtouch@gmail.com

00:53:59    Ian Lewis:    We all know the future-proofing rules - for consumers [includes energy]: 1. Do not use; 2. Reuse; 3. Alternative use; recycle.

00:57:28    Stanley Pokras:    AIESEC is an international youth-run, non-governmental and not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange experiences.

We are a global network of young leaders under the age of 30 who strive to better themselves and the communities around them. We are passionate about world issues, leadership development, cultural understanding and experiential learning.

The organisation spans 126 countries and territories and every aspect of AIESEC’s operations are managed by students and recent graduates. ::https://othernetworks.org/AIESEC_International::

00:59:00    Ian Lewis:    Thanks, Stan. I'll add a few things about my networks - soon! 🙂)

01:05:56    Ian Lewis:    Perhaps repairable brooms, Kevin...

01:07:53    Shannon McArthur (she/her):    This has been a lively discussion today. Thank you so much. I love you so much… Brooms or toasters - both are just cases in point!

01:10:49    Stanley Pokras:    Matt Robertson is the Ubiquity connection to AIESEC ::https://ubiverse.org/profile/matt-robertson::

01:10:52    Leo Jacoby:    How Your Kidneys Work (relate these functions to global needs)

  • remove waste products from the body.
  • remove drugs from the body.
  • balance the body's fluids.
  • release hormones that regulate blood pressure.
  • produce an active form of vitamin D that promotes strong, healthy bones.
  • control the production of red blood cells.

< ::https://www.kidney.org/kidneydisease/howkidneyswrk::

Complementing the analogy oft used on HR that we need more heart (and less head?) I offer, being a newbie on dialysis, the globe needs some kind of dialysis to reinforce global governing functions. Self-regulation by reforming our consumer mindset and carbon footprint; regulation of corporate interests to balance quarterly profits with large scale global equlibrium and equity goals. Hear, here we need more global kidney function!

01:12:04    Kevin He/him Canada:    One question for Ian , before I leave

01:13:46    Leo Jacoby:    What's the topic or focus for Zoom on Saturday?

01:19:08    Ian Lewis:    http://worldcetaceanalliance.org
