11:20:42 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Imagine all the world living life in peace…

11:25:16 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Thank you, Leo

I’m interested in how to use non-violence to break the patterns of self critcism which can become violent

11:31:03 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Standing on a moral high-ground implies one can look down on others. Judgement is not helpful - we are all learning all the time.

11:33:03 From Kurt Krueger to Everyone:

Gandhi: The Man, by Eknath Easwaran, is a classic brief and beautiful illustration of his life as his teachings.

11:38:33 From Marilyn Schramm to Everyone:

moral "high ground" simply allows for a broader, higher perspective

11:39:24 From Jane M to Everyone:

YesYes and Yes!  Humility, Selfless Service and Compassion, Ubuntu!

11:40:23 From Jane M to Everyone:

This is the way to our Peaceful survival as a species.

11:43:02 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

According to Jainism every act by which a person directly or indirectly supports killing or injury is violence (himsa), which creates harmful karma. The aim of ahimsa is to prevent the accumulation of such karma.

11:43:44 From Karri-ann Flater to Everyone:

Can you speak to the concept of "selflessness" within nonviolence? Growing up I was required to disregard my "self" and my needs at the expense of the "wellbeing of others." This caused a lot of enmeshment and confusion. I was not allowed to have boundaries and was taught that taking care of myself was selfish. I am now trying to unravel those beliefs and apply them to a world where I can take care of myself AND others.

11:43:59 From Jane M to Everyone:

   Absolutely Dehanna.

11:44:19 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

Does this happen among women - to say it's good to be strong... at least, I don't think women expect other women to use physical power against others. Interesting…

11:45:38 From Erik Cornish to Everyone:

Heart Math in the UK have been working with armed forces to reduce PTSD and suicide.

11:46:12 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Katie, there does seem to be a trend of women seeking to be physically strong.

11:46:29 From Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson to Everyone:

Can the panelist comment on the phenomenon of “numbness” as people witness so much violence in the world, and how best to deal with “numbness”?

11:46:48 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

To be physically strong yes, but not to use physical strength against others... IMHO and experiences.

11:48:59 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

I wish I could say I agree. and I could be wrong.

11:49:50 From Jane M to Everyone:

That is the tricky bit Karr-ann...feeling o.k.about setting boundaries while acting comapssionatly in all that we do.

11:49:53 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

   Good discussion, Shannon.

11:50:51 From ann cole to Host and Panelists:

Can you please speak about the two hands of nonviolence?

11:51:28 From Shealagh King to Host and Panelists:

   I don’t agree

11:51:31 From ann cole to Everyone:

Can you please speak about the two hands of nonviolence?  Women have been taught to be selfless at their own expense.

11:52:12 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

THere’s also alexythymia, a condition of inability to feel. According to therapist Terence Real, men suffer from this condition at high levels.  I posit that our societies raise boys to be drafted as killers.  Women in general are much less likely to kill.

11:52:13 From Karri-ann Flater to Everyone:

Isn't that form of violence towards ourselves? To sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others?

11:53:14 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

::https://terryreal.com::  I learned of alexythymia in Riane Eisler’s book Nurturing Our Humanity

11:53:18 From Jane M to Everyone:

Sometimes we are acting with our own hidden agenda of expecting and wanting others to change.

11:54:21 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

Question: Can you talk about “Collective Consciousness”, belonging to the whole?

11:54:33 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

We must fill our own cup first!

11:54:43 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

No one can do it for us!

11:57:17 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

which is opposite of looking at a human being as sub-human

11:57:26 From Kathryn Alexander, MA to Everyone:

   Wonderful discussion! Hate to leave….

11:57:43 From maureenedwardson3@gmail.com to Everyone:

Lesson learned from my children's preschool teacher.. separate the child from the behaviour

11:58:35 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Katie, ::https://www.publicpeople.org/what-is-female-bullying.htm::

11:58:53 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

As an American, a pure non-cooperation with violence is very hard to imagine.

11:59:34 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

Agree - so much courage, and love in non-violence. It is empowered. Love these reminders of non-cooperation with evil, and that it is active not passive. Thank you, Tom, Michael, and Ela for this discussion on non-violence and its tangents, so significant and deep.

12:00:19 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

12:01:26 From Jean Stevens to Everyone:

Thank you Ela Gandhi for your work on the UN Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.  Today is so important at the UN Day, 9/26/22 and remembering Lieutenant Colonel Petrov on 9/26/83 when he saved the world from a nuclear war due to a computer misread in Moscow.  ::https://www.un.org/en/observances/nuclear-weapons-elimination-day::

12:09:17 From Jane M to Everyone:

Always realize that everyone has a story which may be the cause of violence in our society. Then you have a different perception of the individual who has commmited a violent act and you are more able to act compassionatly.

12:09:25 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

That’s right! WE is the way of CHANGE

12:10:07 From Kurt Krueger to Everyone:

12:16:36 From Stan for the ChatPeople to Everyone:

I just thought of something…. the military budget could be trimmed to divert money to peace keeping such as the Peace Corps that pays people to become peace ambassadors.

12:17:41 From Tina Michel to Everyone:

I joined the call late... Wondering if anyone spoke about the proposed US Department of Peace?

12:17:56 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Not yet, Tina.

12:17:58 From Stan for the ChatPeople to Everyone:

The same idea could be used to pay people for peace tourism… Where people are paid to travel the word on behalf of friendship and peace.

12:18:58 From Kurt Krueger to Everyone:

We could have a Department of Peace, to create all manners of PeaceMaking in all facets of life, economy, governance, education, environment, etc.

12:21:31 From Jane M to Everyone:

Principled non violence perhaps means realizing you may never see that it is ONLY the violent that gets what it wants, so to speak and practice non violence anyway. Look at the longterm in terms of achieving non violence for all.

12:22:29 From Jøran Solberg to Everyone:

is nonviolence understandable by anybody or is it a matter of values indigenous to relatively advanced levels of consciousness development?

12:24:38 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

I believe, Joran, that nonviolence is not only understandable but it is within the ability of everyone. Changing our minds is a personal thing, and it doesn't take someone else telling us how to do it to realize the value of not perpetrating harm.

12:25:26 From Prashant Amara to Everyone:

please if any comment on peace/non-violent disposition is congruent with ones emptying/metabolizing their transpersonal/ancient containers?
