My kdis went to a Waldorf school, and they watched tv only one moment of the day evening, one hour at most ..with us parentes together. My daughter who is a teacher lets her kids watch TV or connect on wifi...2 x times a week , for most one hour..they play in the street. I am so proud of my kids..shared all!!!

What shocks me most today is the kids connected to internet most of their day....and adopting behaviours, expressions that are so artificial. Plus the stress of their parentes..That is why I am also jumping into education into the these communities here.

I just joined out of curiosity about whether the gun violence perpetrated by young men is being discussed. There's clearly a problem of parents not paying attention to the behavior of young men who are allowed weapons of mass destruction. Very serious times. Dangerous times. Permissiveness is a problem. There seems to be significant cultural differences around the level of permissiveness allowed by parents. There is a particular profile of young men who engage in mass shootings.

In my humble view, one of the hardest things for a parent to say to a child and for a child to hear from a parent is “I don't know”. However, one way to deal with this challenge is to say “I don't know, but let’s see if we can find out together.”

I’m surprised how reactivated I am in this conversation. I gave my kids lots of transformational tools to use for navigating their lives.
I grew up in a household where there was inappropriate sexual behavior happening. It took me many yrs of my life to discover that molestation was at the source of many of my unworkable choices I made. My father & mother were both prey to this behavior & brought it into our family. Secrets! Secrets! Secrets!
Turns out I married a man of matching energy who secretly molested children & shot himself at 79 when he was found out.
My 39 yr old daughter has been dealing with the pain of not being protected from the energy she grew up in. My children have no plans to have children. They told me that years ago.
There are a lot of things people don’t talk about that are going on.

I’d just like to add that the best thing my parents ever did for me during my struggles was making sure I knew I was loved and valued. There are lots of different parenting styles but I think as long as your child knows those two things then you are being a good parent. Often children feel a lot of guilt for being ill and that leads to them not talking about it but if a child knows they are valued no matter what, it becomes easier to start a conversation.
