Text of the Zoom Chat from Humanity Rising Day 444

...

11:03:07 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

A warm greeting to you from the traditional lands of the Arapaho now known as Denver, Colorado.

11:03:44 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Please choose to include Everyone in your comments here so we can play well together.

11:05:38 From Stanley Pokras to Everyone:

Today is a magic number Day 444

11:05:52 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

Beautifully put Jim! Blessings to ALL transforming💓🙌

11:07:09 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Good morning, Kelsey!!

11:07:48 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

   Welcome Kelsey! 🙏

11:10:48 From Kelsey Pacha (he/him) to Everyone:

11:11:27 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

As a feminist and a theologian, I’ve been pushing for different pronouns for 60 years or so!  Ironic how we change.

11:13:00 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

My husband and I called our in-utero baby potentials “coo”, for instance.

11:14:27 From Mary Thorp_WV to Everyone:

   Yeah, stories!!!

11:16:53 From RuthAnn Lenape to Everyone:

Is there acceptance for using non-gendered pronouns exclsively?

11:17:21 From RuthAnn Lenape to Everyone:

Would that be the most diplomatic linguistic change?

11:17:34 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

So Good there is protection in place!☝️

11:23:06 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

I believe it is Robin Wall-Kimmerer who suggests the pronoun be: ki and kin

11:23:49 From RuthAnn Lenape to Everyone:

   Yes, Robin Kimmerer!

11:25:14 From AMY A BLUMENSHINE to Everyone:

Robin Kimmerer’s (with the same name as a bird) suggestion would fit well with the need for “God-language” that doesn’t reinforce patriarchy.

11:28:42 From Mary Thorp_WV to Everyone:

Today it's even more difficult since people don't know how to spell or know the difference between you & you're, for instance.

11:33:22 From Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Everyone:

Swedish used to be gendered as well. For instance: a watch was feminine. A she.

11:33:51 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

Yes, great point, and reminds me of (I believe we learned here) the color blue, which was named last and therefore seen last and still not noted with some cultures.

11:42:03 From Kathryn Alexander, MA (joined via macro.io-) to Everyone:

With all this crazy complexity and the insistence on individuation the am really leaning toward KI and Kin - they FEEL warmer and closer and inclusive.

11:43:31 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

   Hear hear Kathryn…it’s about belonging!

11:43:34 From Kelsey Pacha (he/him) to Everyone:

   Getting Curious w/ JVN

11:45:04 From Kathryn Alexander, MA (joined via macro.io-) to Everyone:

I missed the name of the Netflix video…?

11:45:14 From Mary Thorp_WV to Everyone:

Will you drop the Netflix info again.

11:45:47 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Kathryn, it’s right above your comment. Not a link.

11:47:16 From Kathryn Alexander, MA (joined via macro.io-) to Everyone:

   Thanks, Shannon

11:48:31 From Kathryn Alexander, MA (joined via macro.io-) to Everyone:

I’ve used ‘we’ for me for years and been corrected. We and they are comfortable as are she/her

11:49:21 From Leo Jacoby to Everyone:

::https://book4you.org/s/Robin%20Kimmerer/?e=1:: (two ebooks by Robin Wall Kimmerer, mentioned today)

11:50:00 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

   Thanks, Leo.

11:53:40 From Kelsey Pacha (he/him) to Everyone:

   ::https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/08/style/neopronouns-nonbinary-explainer.html::

11:56:17 From Mary Thorp_WV to Everyone:

Guess we will have to start wearing nametags to be addressed properly.

11:59:15 From Shannon McArthur to Everyone:

Mary, only if you are sensitive to it… some are. Maybe that would help us but it would label them… thorny thicket!

11:59:25 From Leo Jacoby to Everyone:

On a family Zoom my 7-year old grandsons will frequently change "their" name under "their" gallery picture, including "kitten" and often a coded label.

11:59:25 From Katherine Augustine to Everyone:

Thank you - such valuable information - Really appreciate. Hopping off for work.

12:03:04 From Dehanna Rice to Everyone:

   I think we’re ALL going though new symbols/identities emerging…
