Hi, Kathryn... might I suggest that people be acknowledged for the help and service to others. Yes, it's helpfulness that ought to count as valor and patriotism.
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:11 AM)

Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (11:15 AM)
Yes, when asked if I’m a Veteran, I often answer, yes. I taught in the inner-cities and helped those in need, took away MANY ingenious weapons ~ more than some soldiers did in Vietnam. We get what we focus upon.
Dr. Carroy (Cuf) Ferguson to Panelists and Attendees (11:19 AM)
In alignment with Memorial Day & the theme of today, I humbly offer a reference to an article I wrote in 2009 about the root causes of war. Here’s the link: ::https://www.academia.edu/7522226/Fear_and_Projection_as_Root_Causes_of_War_and_the_Archetypal_Energies_Trust_and_Peace_as_Antidotes::
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:22 AM)
Second 'action step'...coming together to find solutions to inconscious bias and injustices, even though you disagree or don't understand each other.
KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:29 AM)
Love the idea of “ouch” and knowing often it is not intentional… and if willing to share the understanding the person can learn from this interaction and create more connection overall.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (11:32 AM)
Stan, what can people DO that gives them the same feeling they get when they are tested in battle? It is a driver that also the populace to collude with government when war comes up.
This is a great implicit bias set of tests - I highly recommend: ::https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html::
Jane Norton to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)
I used the HBDI n my organizational consulting in the 90s - it's a fantastic tool!
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:41 AM)
Is this the same as "Insights Discovery"?
Jane M to Panelists and Attendees (11:49 AM)
Intercultural competence must include deep introspection and selfawareness.
Me to All panelists and other attendees (11:55 AM)
Kathryn... it's possible that there is no substitute activity that can offer a person the same feeling as they might get in warfare. Sport aims in that direction, American Football for example. But teamwork in other avenues might be as IMPORTANT if not as exhilarating. Do people really need to put their life in danger to be heroes?
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)
Anais Nin
KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (11:57 AM)

The Superchicken Talk
In a related thought to illustrating the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion as a way to build effective teams, business leader Margaret Heffernan, in her 16 minute TED talk "Forget the superchicken pecking order" observes that it is social cohesion — built every coffee break, every time one team member asks another for help — that leads over time to great results.
Here is the page for Margaret Heffernan and the above talk on OtherNetworks.org

I think that risking ones life foe something meaningful is very important to some people. How to do that without risking the destruction and involving folks who don’t have that same need???
Marcia Raff to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)
Shameful
Kurt Krueger, SuccessSystemsInternational.net to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)

IMAGINE:
You are thriving in the future. Everyone experiences Peace in Everything and Everything with Peace.
You are the last elder alive who ever experienced anything other than peace, “How did we get to have Peace in Everything and Everything with Peace?”
What is the answer given?
The more the detail, in as many areas of living, provides the path forward from these primitive times.
See OtherNetworks.org/Peace_Lab for possibly adding your collaborative contribution for the future of a thriving life.
Here’s a 8 minute video on a PeaceMaker Meditation handout. Groups are forming together or through teleconference to bring more Peace to the Planet. Here's a Meditation practice that can greatly help. ::https://youtu.be/noUBgVogMw4::. Peace in Everything, Everything with Peace will reverberate throughout your day… making it the focus and bringing more peace to you and ‘others.’
We are made to be the architects of the future, not its victims! ~ Buckminster Fuller
