Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:08 AM)
thank you, Stan and JIM!! Good morning/day to all. Please change To in this chatbox to include Attendees so we can chat together…
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:10 AM)
It was also in Central and So. American America, as well as in places in the Middle East, like what is now Iran.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:11 AM)
Welcome Dr. Scott, Joyce, thank you for coming.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:12 AM)
‘in the Spirit of Humanity Rising’ aho!
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (11:13 AM)
I would like to share something to all. A devastating indictment of the history of slavery in the US has been written by a woman of colour - Isabel Wilkerson. It is called Caste. The book also describes how the German government in the thirties wrote to the US government and asked for information on its policy of segregation which they then implemented in relation to the Jewish population in Germany. So the ramifications of this terrible issue of slavery go deep and wide.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:16 AM)
thank you, Anne. yes.
Chiara MEGIGHIAN to Panelists and Attendees (11:17 AM)
Good morning so happy to be here with you
Germans had learned from the Ottomans in the treatment of Armenians too. Not slavery per se but lack of humanity.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:24 AM)
cotton plants are vicious! thorns prick even little fingers
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:27 AM)
Relative to what Anne has written, today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, regarding the Holocaust of WW
WWII- tragic that it is not the only one
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (11:35 AM)
All that Dr. Hope Scott is revealing is what Jung called the Shadow of western civilization. The fact that it is being revealed gives hope of reparation and restitution. There can be no healing without recognition of this Shadow.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:36 AM)
thank you, Anne, it’s hard to hear. May the hearing be as medicine to the wound; allow Light to shine through.
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:42 AM)
Unfortunately serfs and slaves have been common in Europe since before medieval times. Also a lot of European slaves, even so far as from Iceland, was captured and brought to Northern Africa. A long shadow.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (11:46 AM)
‘Power Over’ has been practiced throughout humanity for most of our existence. God grant us the wisdom to awaken to the reality that we are One - and we do this violence to Ourself. We have been a Child - it’s time to see the results of our wrong actions as the challenge before us to consider, soothe and heal. we are all involved.
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:47 AM)
yes, we are.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (11:58 AM)
It is insane that by the 23rd week of 2017, 23 black people had been shot and killed by police in San Francisco; that George Floyd became an “issue” was of something that is terribly standard practice.
Mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)
I'm hearing this as a holocaust.
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)
yes, a holocaust
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (11:59 AM)
Yes, it is a holocaust.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)
in the Holocaust, they did not make the Jews work, to my knowledge. Of course, I could be wrong… this is all so wrong…
Chiara MEGIGHIAN to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)
So sorry I have to leave......I am with you in heart ❤️
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)
Chiara, thank you for coming and being with us.
Mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)
In Germany, it was all concentrated (concentration camps) so we see it as such a dispicable happening.
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (12:00 PM)
what about the slave labour in the extermination camps?
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)
was there? oh.
Jim Garrison to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)
The Jews were forced to work in many of the industrial factories of Nazi Germany. They were forced to work in the concentration camps. Many were worked to death.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)
The criminalization as prison fodder is the overt contemporary expression.
Mary thorp to Panelists and Attendees (12:01 PM)
I, too, have to leave but am glad I am here for this. Thank you, Dr Joyce Hope Scott.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:02 PM)
Bye, Mary… blessings go with you…
Ina Albert to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)
Ina Albert: Jews were slaves in the 1930s and through WWII. They were the backbone of the German industrial backbone.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)
This is also happening to the Uyghur people of Western China- prison camps, family separations and slave labor.
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (12:03 PM)
It's also happening in India with the treatment of the lowest caste - the Dalits
KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:04 PM)
Thank you, Dr. Scott… to share and hear this awful history, for many reasons And so we can stop repeating it. Oh, the children aspect…
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (12:07 PM)
I feel ignorant, did not know about this theft of enterprise and land at all. Thanks for talking about it here.
Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:09 PM)
I would like to recommend beautifully written historical fictional novels about the African American experience by my friend H. Victoria Hargro Atkerson, an Atlanta native, living in Philadelphia, is a masterful storyteller. ::https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1?ie=UTF8&text=H.+Victoria+Hargro+Atkerson&search-alias=books&field-author=H.+Victoria+Hargro+Atkerson&sort=relevancerank::
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)
Barbro, we live to learn. We are more able now to honour those who have been dishonoured. I am grateful.
carroy Ferguson to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)
Sister Joyce. This is Cuf. You did a beautiful job in sharing a “corrective, reparative narrative” that we both know and experience in our personal & societal life space in the U. S.
Shannon McArthur to Panelists and Attendees (12:09 PM)
Aho, Cuf.
Louise Harris to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)
Deepest of thanks
Anne Baring to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)
Thank you so much for this minute detailing of this terrible story.
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)
Yes, we live to learn.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:10 PM)
Our youth, white youth really need to understand this history as they do not in large measure, though many are at the forefront of the BLM movement
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:11 PM)
And the Romanys
KATHERINE AUGUSTINE to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)

I won’t be on the chat as heading to work now. Appreciate you Dr. Scott, and Jim, as always for hosting these. Yes the children aspect… oh.
Debra Kaiser to Panelists and Attendees (12:12 PM)
thank you Stanley Pokras for the reading references.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)
Henry Oates - Crossing Rivers, a documentary on the history of slavery. Very powerful!!
Me to All panelists and other attendees (12:17 PM)
You're welcome, Debra... Her stories can be difficult to encounter... especially, "Enslaved" which is very descriptive of capture and transit.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)
The actual history of the development of our “police force” was a posies gathered and paid to chase, capture and prosecute escaped slaves.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:17 PM)
Gates? Henry Gates?
Barbro Esbjörnsdotter to Panelists and Attendees (12:21 PM)
Do people of color know this? They should.
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)
No need to apologize for truth and the obvious reality🙏
Marilyn Schramm to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)
and juvenile detention centers
Diane Sue to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)
Dr. Scott. Thank you for expanding our awareness of the reality of the what has occurred in the United States. It is imperative for us to understand this history as it allows us to fully understand the depth of healing needed, and the role of reparation in that healing. May we all have the strength to take the needed steps in that direction. I'm sorry that I need to leave before hearing your final words.
Kathryn Alexander, MA to Panelists and Attendees (12:22 PM)
California is the fifth largest prison system in the world
Kala to Panelists and Attendees (12:23 PM)
Note prison “industrial” complex; as chatter for money making as fodder
