Here in Spokane we are working on getting free public bathrooms. People are walking through feces because we can’t agree on how and where to make bathrooms available - OMG

I wonder how these organizations deal with the mentally ill and drug dependent? That is the biggest issue I hear about here inSpokane. The difficulty of dealing with those folks makes people hesitate to get involved. Businesses in particular have had trouble with people using their bathroom, so they have closed them.

Be lovely to them Kathryn (that's not aimed at you personally obvs) - they're not as scary as they seem (or as people fear). In fact, mental health can be helped with kindness and even drug addiction - I used to find they would not come round if they were in really bad condition - they'd wait till they were in a sensible state.

In fact, including 'problem people' in a community, worked wonders. It was a massive undertaking but - a brilliant solution!! Would have loved to have spread it further (just the base was illegal hahaha - had to stop)

A UBI will benefit businesses as much or more than the families... it will supply a needed business factor: CUSTIMERS

Niche NGO stuff so far. although our local council say they are prepared to help. It is changing very gradually. During covid the government did give money so that councils could help to donate to food schemes.
Helpers for the delivery tho are all volunteers (Mutual Aid schemes)

In London, the best help given before the pandemic was via a Sikh group - delivering free food - loads of meals every night, driving round central London.
