One day he said, “Muktananda Swami, come here.” He asked me, “ What is that?” I said, “ Baba, this is a book. It’s a good book on Vedanta.” “ Bah!” he said. That was the worst insult. After saying that, he didn’t have to use any swear words or call me a so-and-so.
Then he asked, “Do you know how a book is created?” “No Baba.”
I would always say, “No, I don’t know”, because if I ever said, ”Yes”, he wouldn’t give me the answer. If I had said, “Yes, this book is written by a sage and it was published in a certain place and everybody knows who wrote it”, he would have turned his face away and gone to sleep. So I said, “I don’t know.”
