Mark Twain, in his book The Damned Human Race, demonstrated that humans are the lowest of creatures despite their claim to superiority due to consciousness.
Twain believes that the human race is the most cruel and evil compared to other beings. He argues that humans may take pleasure in killing and engage in hunting not out of hunger but as a form of entertainment and hobby. In contrast, animals hunt purely out of instinct, without gloating or humiliating their prey as humans do.

Meanwhile, humans boast of goodness, morality, and conscience, yet they commit evil knowingly and with full awareness of their actions. In the end, Twain questions: Who is more rational and superior here? He suggests that humans are not truly rational but rather worship superstitions and illusions and are willing to take another being’s life simply because it is different from them.
