Nietzsche claimed "God was dead" nearly 150 years ago, and the West has been struggling to find a durable shared meaning-making framework ever since. As we are about to enter the second quarter of the 21st Century, we ask the following question - can Theism (i.e., belief in God) address the growing meaning crisis created by postmodernity and help an increasingly atomized West to work together to address existential threats like Climate Change and build a better future for all?

This week speakers, from a variety of global faith traditions and cultures, will offer their perspective on how a post-postmodern vision of God, one that integrates the insights of modernity and postmodernity with the great traditions, can play a key role in addressing the meaning crisis and many of the many challenges the world is facing today including social justice, climate action, building resilient communities and more.

Day One: God, Judaism, Social Justice and Community

We have the opportunity to be reminded of the presence of God in our daily lives through our interactions in support of other humans. These supportive actions reflect back our humanity and the presence of God. And, God’s presence is much more than these actions.

Panelist: Rabbi Cat Zavis
