I Ching, The Book of Change, an oracle system with more than 5000 years of history, has served as a guide for people to evolve through uncertainty, chaos and the unknown. A fundamental premise of the I Ching is that human society is not separated, or placed above, but part of the ecosystems of nature. Human culture is a living organism, and we may care for it like caring for a living being of which we are a part. That’s why, in ancient China, I Ching has traditionally been used as a source book to train leaders, village elders, shamans and medical healers as “seers” of the future.

Today, I Ching is primarily known through texts written two thousand years ago at the onset of China’s long history of patriarchy. However, prior to that, the ancient Tao was primarily led by feminine Spirits and Goddesses. I Ching’s function in serving leaders to evolve to wholeness has atrophied as modern society pivoted toward a more individualistic and materialistic culture.

In this session, Joseph Friedman and Spring Cheng will share how their ground-breaking work, Resonance Code, has begun to re-balance the feminine and masculine expression of I Ching, bringing it up to date to serve leadership development and foreground Universal Mother as leader.

Their presentation will introduce the training module: Life as Oracle (2): I Ching through the Lens of Resonance Code. Through this training, you will learn to engage I Ching hexagrams as a meta-language, something akin to musical notation to capture the different vibrational states of your being. In this way, you may generate your own “oracle dictionary” to observe, notate and interpret your unique, personal frequencies of resonance with Universal Mother. You will personalize this oracle dictionary through your own writing, poetry, song, drawing and creative musing, giving fuller expression to your inner feminine and masculine energies.

Joseph Friedman has over forty years’ experience in consulting and coaching individuals and organizations in communication effectiveness, leadership, high performance teamwork and creating and enacting strategic plans. Dr. Spring Cheng, co-founder of Resonance Path and creator of Living Resonance Leadership, is a mentor and guide for inner transformation. Her work integrates Tao with artistic expression, scientific inquiry and psychospiritual healing. She is passionate about empowering people to birth a culture that celebrates inter-connectedness, harmony, and beauty. Spring spent the first half of her life in traditional, pre-industrialized China and the latter half in the US. She received a doctoral degree in molecular biology and masters in acupuncture. She founded the Living Resonance Leadership MA/PhD program. Spring connects with the native Spirit of China through ancient poetry, singing and qigong Tai Chi. In 2023, ten of her songs composed over ancient Chinese poetry were featured in documentary movie Dancing with the Dead. Spring is the author of Resonance Code – Empowering Leaders to Evolve Toward Wholeness. Her current writings can be found at here.
