Society is living in post-normal times and we’re faced with a level of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity not experienced by humanity for many centuries. This VUCA world demands a heightened focus on compassion-self, other and nature. How do we navigate this, and how do we measure Flourishing broadly speaking?

Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, Ph.D.

Sadhvi is a renowned spiritual leader, author and motivational speaker based in Rishikesh, India. She’s the author of a newly released #1 bestselling memoir, Hollywood to the Himalayas: A Journey of Healing and Transformation. Originally from Los Angeles and a graduate of Stanford University, Sadhviji has been ordained into the sacred order of Sanyas by her guru HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji and has been living at Parmarth Niketan Ashram for the past twenty-five years. She is the Secretary-General of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, an international interfaith organization dedicated to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; president of Divine Shakti Foundation, a foundation that runs free schools, vocational training programs, and empowerment programs; and director of the world-famous International Yoga Festival at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh—which has been covered in Time, CNN, the New York Times and other prestigious publications and has been addressed by both the Prime Minister and Vice President of India. She serves on the United Nations Advisory Council on Religion and on the steering committees of the International Partnership for Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD) and the Moral Imperative to End Extreme Poverty, a campaign by the United Nations and World Bank. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by U.S. President Joe Biden for her lifelong commitment to volunteer service. She was also the Managing Editor for the monumental project of the 11-volume Encyclopedia of Hinduism.

Steven Crane Ph.D.

Steven received a BA in Human Biology (with a concentration in the Psychology and Philosophy of Successful Aging) from Stanford University in 2012 and an MS in Community Health and Prevention Research from Stanford Medicine in 2019. As a speaker, teacher, and writer, he covers topics ranging from biology and psychology to behavior design, human nature, and the future of biotechnology. As a consultant and interdisciplinary research scholar, he studies human behavior (especially screen time) , biotechnological ethics, social connectedness, public health, and human flourishing. He researches, designs, and teaches across a variety of fields, working in academia and industry. His life’s work is to study, share, and practice the principles of living that lead to greater wisdom, peace, and prosocial engagement in the world.

Xuan Zhao Ph.D.

Xuan Zhao is a behavioral scientist at Stanford and co-founder of Flourish Science, a science-based, mission-driven startup. 14 years' experience in data science and empirical research with business training. Expertise on social connection, interpersonal dynamics, empathy, prosocial behavior, happiness and wellbeing, human-robot interaction, and psychology of technology. Currently pioneering a science-based and scalable solution to help employees and students learn and practice well-being for more happiness, less burnout, stronger community, and better culture.

Dr. Zhao's research has been published in top academic journals and featured in media outlets such as New York Times, Harvard Business Review, BBC, and NPR Science Friday. She has given over 80 talks at international conferences, top universities, and companies. PhD in Social Psychology from Brown University; postdoc fellowship from University of Chicago Booth School of Business; Research Scientist at Stanford SPARQ.

Carson Kelly

Carson Kelly is an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in technology start-up management, Enterprise Software Sales, Nonprofit Governance, Civic Engagement, Product Development and Positioning, Business Planning, and Strategy. He is the founder of Compassion 2.0, Humanize, Benevolently, and the SDG Education Accelerator. He is particularly motivated to bring flourishing based businesses to market to scale compassion. He has a BA in Philosophy from the University of California Santa Cruz.

Tom Eddington

Tom is an author, Executive Coach and Business Advisor, and film Producer . As a scholar of Conscious Leadership, he is passionate about bringing more compassion and conscious leadership into the world which he does as President of the Conscious Leadership Guild, through his coaching and advisory work, film and media projects and Board positions. He brings his commitment and experience to impacting the evolution of AI, climate change and biodiversity loss. Tom holds an M.S. in Organization Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
