HR!Day741 - Women Peacemakers: The Hidden Side of Peacemaking: How to make war irrelevant. - Barbe Chambliss
- --- Humanity Rising Day 741 - Friday July 14, 2023 (GoTo Bottom)
Barbe Chambliss will provide a presentation highlighting six of the sixty women throughout the world Barbe has interviewed over thirty years time. This effort culminated in a Ph.D. dissertation, and ultimately in a book titled Women Peacemakers: What We Can Learn From Them. She will describe what this kind of peacemaking is, why it is important, how it is done, and who does it. She will explain why this kind of Conscious Peacemaking has the potential to make war irrelevant. Barbe will show how this work is beginning to be taught in schools, and developed into a curriculum for teachers and organizations in collaboration with the National Peace Academy.
Barbe Chambliss is a retired trauma therapist, mediator, educator and author. In the midst of interviewing women peacemakers around the world, she volunteered to work in Croatia with children who had barely survived the Bosnian War, which changed everything for her. Now her purpose is to wake up the conscious peacemaker in as many people as possible. She directed the Volunteer Center for Conflict Resolution in Aspen, Colorado. She has taught mediation to over 600 children and adults in rural Colorado schools. She facilitates Restorative Justice Circles in her community.
