The new science on parenting for health and lifelong thriving reveals the power of spirituality. There is a clear scientific link. Youth who have a positive, active relationship with spirituality are generally in better mental and emotional shape than those who do not.

As Human Beings, we are hardwired for collaboration and cooperation. We have a high need for belonging and community. We all need to feel safe which requires that we be seen, heard and appreciated. And, we need a connection to something larger than ourselves.

The new science on parenting for health and lifelong thriving reveals the power of spirituality. There is a clear scientific link. Youth who have a positive, active relationship with spirituality are:

  • 40% less likely to use and abuse substances;
  • 60% less likely to be depressed as teenagers;
  • 80%  less likely to have dangerous or unprotected sex; and have significantly more positive markers for thriving including an increased sense of meaning and purpose, and high levels of academic success.

We share a global conversation with Dr. Lisa Miller, the voices of young people and “Connecting the Dots” Director, Noemi Weis.
