Your Mind and the Cosmos

An historic event happened here today !!!

Our evolving astronomical and cosmological culture encompasses a global effort to bring human creative endeavor into harmonic interplay with the universe that is singing us. We are cosmos co-creating ourselves, taking the reins of our inherent potency and contemplating how law and logos emerge into the entangled formulas and phenomenology of reason, reality, human and eco-systemic expression. How are our cosmic encounters affecting our socio-cultural identity and neuro-psychology? What harmonies are emerging in humanity and the eco-social systems in response to focused encounters penetrating into specific cosmic identities, tensions, large-scale flows and dynamics? What neural geometries and connective patterns are coming into resonance with these dimensions of cosmic reality? We are learning to creatively resonate with the universe, to discern and translate the data we obtain from astronomical processes into corollary cultural expressions. From structure in stem cells to eco-systems, in that we can now create, entangled particle by particle, spelling the names of almost any possible biosystem, what do we create with our emergent socio-cultural sciences, life forms and eco-systems? How does the apparently random matrix flux of pure reason orchestrate integral, ethical existence?

Our cosmic encounters dwarf the roots and rational of those disputes and conflicts that challenge our very existence as a species. Astronomy has the capacity for expanding the perspective beyond specific racial, cultural, and socio-religious paradigms while fostering respect and reverence for the diversity, totality and integrity of all life. It facilitates comprehension of the radical interdependence of ecosystems across scales from quantum through biological and socio-cultural to cosmological. Astronomy, cosmology and astrobiology play roles in facilitating understanding of ecological diversity, appreciating with clarity the vital role of each aspect of life. What does it mean for human culture and cosmos that tiny organisms on this jewel-sized lapis lazuli planet are learning to sing and create in harmony with it? Our cultures arise at the nexus of interacting matrices of complexity, giving rise to systems and organisms through multidimensional resonance. The contributions of this newest cosmic encounter in transforming global culture may be among our greatest achievements. Bringing the unifying dimensions of cosmos to the global community, sharing the wonder and calling forth the unparalleled ability of astronomy to dwarf our disputations, open our hearts and to propel us in new harmonic expressions on this collective universal adventure, are at the nexus of evolutionary intention. There is the sense of human beings as witness, co-creators and inseparable participants in, and as, cosmos’ self-generative emergence.

Presenters

  • Kala Perkins (MEnvSci, MABioethics, MDiv, BAPsychology); From psychology and creative arts therapies in Los Angeles, to India, studying Ayurvedic medicine; she worked and studied in NY going from neuroscience to peace and conflict education/UN Studies (Columbia Uni). Returning for another nine years to Asia, - India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, China and Mongolia - she worked and travelled, seeking to understand our human nature, social and political systems and world cultures, including several years as a Buddhist monastic. After two years in Mongolia building bridges of science and culture with The Academy of Science at the close of the Cold War, with a passion for astronomy and cosmology she left for ten year in Australia. There she entered the field of astrophysics, with research and teaching, inspiring students, artists and the public with the cosmological perspective and insights. She completed an Environmental Science Master (Cosmic Ecology, ANU), in conjunct with research and teaching in Australia, focused at the science-arts-psychology nexus. Returning to the US (2006), she taught University (Philosophy and Sociology of Science, Psychology of Religion, Astronomy) and completed two further masters: in Bioethics (LMU), and a Master of Divinity and Interfaith Chaplaincy, focused on issues in health and social justice (GTU, Berkeley). Currently she is enrolled in a doctorate in Astro-Bioethics, and Mindful Meditation Teacher Certification. She continues teaching meditation and mindfulness, as well as astronomy, at the science-philosophy-culture nexus.
  • Banafsheh Sayyad is a sacred dancer, choreographer and transformational teacher of embodiment. She is the founding director of Dance of Oneness®, practitioner of Chinese Medicine, and co-director of the Ubiquity Chartres Academy. Banafsheh performs and teaches internationally, initiating people into the wisdom of their bodies, inspiring them to live their everyday life as a sacred dance. She is among the few bearers of authentic Persian dance in the world, and a pioneer in creating a liberated feminine expression in the Sufi dance genre previously performed only by men. Her modality, Dance of Oneness® is dance as a spiritual path and science of embodiment. It is a fusion of the art of dance: rigorous technique and self-expression; healing; and wisdom teachings. With a MFA in Choreography and MA in Chinese Medicine, Banafsheh is dedicated to individual and collective healing through conscious dance. She currently teaches courses online.
  • Anne Baring b. 1931. MA Oxon. PhD (Hons) in Wisdom Studies Ubiquity University 2018. Jungian Analyst, author and co-author of 7 books including, with Jules Cashford, The Myth of the Goddess; Evolution of an Image; with Andrew Harvey, The Mystic Vision and The Divine Feminine; with Dr. Scilla Elworthy, Soul Power: An Agenda for a Conscious Humanity. Also a book for children, The Birds Who Flew Beyond Time. Her most recent book The Dream of the Cosmos: A Quest for the Soul (2013, updated and reprinted 2020) was awarded the Scientific and Medical Network Book Prize for 2013. The ground of all her work is a deep interest in the spiritual, mythological, shamanic and artistic traditions of different cultures. Her website is devoted to the affirmation of a new vision of reality and the issues facing us at this crucial time of choice.
  • Peggy Rubin is the author of a prize-winning book, To Be and How To Be, about living life as sacred theatre. She just completed a many years project, a book about the practice of joy. In addition to her work in sacred theatre, Peggy has been, since 1986, the primary teaching associate in Jean Houston’s Mystery Schools and School for Social Artistry, as well as Jean’s international work in human development.
