When we track humanity's progress, we implicitly ask, "Progress towards what?" That's a question that seldom gets addressed. Growing up, I didn't ask my parents where we were headed--I figured they knew, and my job was to figure it out as I grew up. For individuals, where we're going is a complicated matter of circumstances and whim that determines who is with us and who is against us. Maybe there’s a more powerful vantage point. The world is now on the brink of collapse in climate, politics and war, threatening not just us, but the whole future for humanity and nature. When we’re not resigned, we intuitively measure progress against “humanity flourishing for millennia to come.” Join us as we inquire explicitly into what that means. You may discover that this exciting question is simpler and more actionable than you ever imagined.
Peter Fiekowsky, author of Climate Restoration: The Only Future That Will Sustain the Human Race (2022), is an MIT-educated physicist and Silicon Valley entrepreneur and philanthropist with 27 patents. He has 30 years’ experience as a citizen lobbyist for poverty and climate issues, and recently has been working to build the organizations required to ensure the survival and flourishing of humanity. His mission is to leave a world we’re proud of to our children. To that end, he founded the Foundation for Climate Restoration, Methane Action, the Climate Restoration Safety & Governance Board, the Humanity Day organization and most recently the Climate Restoration Fund.
