Your outer ear, the auricle, is a window to your brain. With training, you can use this window to gain rapid insights for assessment and treatment of complex health conditions. Discover the somatotopic organization of your ear — the numerous neural reflex zones noted by the World Health Organization (WHO) as being part of the most comprehensive microsystem on the body. And then, find out how frequencies and resonance are applied to identify specific blockages to healing on both biological and behavioral paths. Our discussion will be interdisciplinary, and cover evidence-based methods (within the neuroscientific field of auricular neuromodulation), as well as explorational approaches (such as identifying trauma on the timeline of your past, present and future).
Duvan Hoffmann is the Director of IntegrateAuricular.com, an online continuing education platform for auricular methods in healthcare, wellness, and research. His focus, since the start of his work as program director at the Canadian Institute of Auricular Medicine (CIAM) in 2019, has been to foster international collaboration for the advancement of the auricular approaches as a unified field for the assessment and treatment of complex health conditions. He is an active member of the North American Neuromodulation Society, with an appointment on the Education Committee. His current projects include: Curriculum development for continuing medical education of non-invasive auricular vagus nerve stimulation; integration of auricular methods to address challenges in mental health practice, and an exploratory course on attunement to the harmony of the spheres.
