Vjekoslav Sage

Vjekoslav Sage is a Muslim human rights activist from Bosnia. After the war Balkan War, while in Mercy Corps International, from 1996-98, the focus of his work, as a program officer, was in civil society initiatives, problem-solving, and refugee return. In 1997, together with CSIS, WCRP-World Conference on Religion and Peace and USIP-United States Institute for Peace, he assisted in the forming of the Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His task was to organize and facilitate the preliminary meeting of our religious leaders in the Vienna residence of the former US ambassador to Austria, her Excellency Swanee Hunt. The meeting was conducted by the respected peacemakers like Dr. Landrum Bolling, from Conflict Management Group, and Dr. David Little, from USIP. These people and organizations have also initiated and helped in forming the local NGO, CRD-Center for Religious Dialogue in Sarajevo, with Vjekoslav as a director. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to bring peace and reconciliation to Bosnia.
