In our modern world, modalities like intuition, wisdom beyond rationality, and non-ordinary ways of knowing tend to be trained out of us, replaced by a hyper focus on rationality and constraining our “valid” knowing to the so-called objective world. In the 21st century, as the second tier of Spiral Dynamics becomes more prevalent, a wide variety of techniques and methods have been emerging, allowing us to know the world in new, emergent ways. Systemic constellations are one such modality, focusing as they do on creating a living map of a system (family, team, organization, community) that reveals the underlying (sometimes hidden) dynamics of the focal system. In this talk, we will review the three fundamental principles that create harmony in human systems, then briefly identify three application areas: individual coaching, group process, and solo introspection, all using a constellation view. Finally, we will take an in-depth look at a real world constellation process that Michael Spayd used as a solo introspection process.

Michael Spayd is about transformation. Drawn to cutting edge 'technologies' for coaching organizations, leaders and teams, he has been an organizational change coach and consultant for more than 25 years, working in Fortune 1000 to small businesses. He has specialized in large-scale Agile transformations since 2001. Training in Systemic Constellations and Systemic Management has fundamentally changed his view of the world and his work. In 2010, he co-founded the Agile Coaching Institute where he trained thousands of Agile coaches. He conceived then coauthored the book “Agile Transformation: Using the Integral Agile Transformation Framework™ to Think and Lead Differently”, published by Addison Wesley in 2020.
