Bowdoin College is a private liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. When Bowdoin was chartered in 1794, Maine was still a part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • It is the mission of the College to engage students of uncommon promise in an intense full-time education of their minds, exploration of their creative faculties, and development of their social and leadership abilities in a four-year course of study and residence that concludes with a baccalaureate degree in the liberal arts.
  • Bowdoin College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
Bowdoin is a not-for-profit, independent, nonsectarian institution.
Between comprehensive evaluations, NECHE requires that institutions prepare an interim report to demonstrate their continued improvement.
