So many dire situations face us seemingly everywhere we turn. There's so much misunderstanding, polarization, and meanness in our public and personal lives, and plenty of hatred, cruelty, and violence too. And the levels of anxiety, fear, overwhelm, despair, and hopelessness around the world, among so many people of different cultures, genders, and ages, are increasing, often exponentially. Given all that, the notion of “maximizing joy” can seem an absurd adventure in self-indulgent detachment from reality. In fact, an opposite orientation may be true — and important to embrace. In this interview we look into how magnifying both experiential/temporary and existential/innate kinds of joy as much as we can, may be “good medicine” for one and all. And how those practices could well be urgent necessities for our personal and relational well-being, our contributions to the greater good, and even for the whole biosphere. | So many dire situations face us seemingly everywhere we turn. - --- Humanity Rising Day 1034 - Monday November 25, 2024 (GoTo Bottom)

Saniel Bonder is a pioneer of embodied, integrative, non-dual realization. An Honorary National Scholar at Harvard with a B.A. in Social Relations, he devoted himself to a long spiritual quest and, for the last thirty years, to “democratizing awakening.” His and his wife and full partner Linda’s breakthrough work through their Human Sun Institute is best known as Waking Down in Mutuality®. Their primary offering to the general public is the highly praised, evergreen and live online course, Maximizing Joy: In Your Life, Work, Relationships — and World. Saniel has authored Waking Down, Healing the Spirit/Matter Split, The White-Hot Yoga of the Heart, Great Relief, and other spiritual texts, and two novels. He plays indigenous flutes and would like to play more — "and better!" — golf.
Ken Wilber praises Linda Groves-Bonder as “a brilliant teacher in her own right.” Since the 1990s she has created key expressions of her and Saniel’s teachings and personally assisted many people into awakened living. A multi-talented artist, she holds a B.S. in Art Education from Ball State University. She has sung internationally and recorded two albums, I’m Here, jazz standards and her original songs, and Joy of Being, her non-verbal vocal toning. Among those who know her, Linda is cherished for both her heart-full love and her discerning, simply stated wisdom. Linda and Saniel live among the pastures, corrals, and vineyards of the wine country in rural Sonoma, California, where they’re happily owned by two cats and Linda feeds lots of wild birds every day.
