Since the war in Ukraine began in 2014 with the American led coup in Ukraine that brought in an anti-Russian pro NATO regime that began attacking the Donbas in eastern Ukraine, the war has taken a heavy toll. Over 14,000 civilians in the Donbas were killed in the attacks. Since the military operation of Russia to seize the land bridge securing its access to Crimea in February 2022, the toll has been even higher. Upwards of 10 million Ukrainians have been displaced, hundreds of thousands of civilians and soldiers on bought sides have been killed or wounded and infrastructure has been destroyed.
