In this session we will dialogue with Christopher Maurer, co-founder and CEO of MycoHab, a company in Africa that is turning waste "encroacher" bush into food and humanitarian housing. They are doing this by leveraging fungi to produce edible mushrooms and dense composites made of the plant waste and mycelium - or rootlike branching hyphae of the fungus. Chris is an architect and will discuss this project as well as other "bioterial" projects he is working on with top researchers at NASA, MIT and other leading scientific institutions. Although the approach is scientific, it is far from hi-tech, in fact these processes leverage the growth of natural organisms to most of the manufacturing.
