Learn about the origins of the Pachamama Alliance, and how that spawned Fundacion Pachamama into becoming one of the most innovative and effective organizations working with and supporting indigenous peoples anywhere. - Belén Páez: A biologist by training, Belen has been engaged in environmental and cultural preservation work in Ecuador’s Amazon region for nearly three decades. She is the director of Fundacion Pachamama an Ecuadorian NGO, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, focused on rainforest preservation and indigenous peoples’ rights and fulfillment. Belen is the coordinator of on-the-ground activities in Ecuador and Peru for the Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative. Belen of lives in Quito, Ecuador This work in the Amazon is now at a crucial point where the indigenous people have the potential to play a game-changing role in shaping effective conservation and climate related action for the entire Amazon.
- John Perkins: Co-Founder of Pachamama Alliance and best-selling author and internationally known speaker and writer on global economics and indigenous shamanism. John was instrumental in the initial founding of Pachamama Alliance. He was a member of the initial board of directors in 1996 and has served as a board member ever since.
- Bill Twist: Co-founder of Pachamama Alliance in 1996, serves as its chief executive officer and president, striving to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet, for heaven’s sake
